Wi-Fi 6E Begins Rollout, Ushering in New Functionality

Wi-Fi 6E, the biggest upgrade to the technology in decades, is on the horizon.

This new era of Wi-Fi technology is possible thanks to an expansion of wireless airwaves for consumer technology, which were made accessible by the FCC early in 2020, and smartphones, laptops, PCs and more will likely include the functionality as 6E rolls out.

However, that rollout is set to be a gradual one. In fact, IDC predicts that, by 2022, only 20% of Wi-Fi 6 products will also be compatible with Wi-Fi 6E.
