Metal detecting is a passion for hobbyists around the world, and this episode of Garrett Metal Detectors’ Discover the Truth brought us to the United States’ neighbor to the north for a conversation with Digg’n Canada’s Jeremiah “J Three B” Bowes.

How Tyler Kern and Bowes talked about a range of subjects, including Bowes’ relatively recent entry into the hobby and how his excitement for metal detecting first began to bloom.

“I’ve only been detecting since 2016,” he said. “I never thought I’d get into detecting. I was actually watching some parody music videos, and one of them was titled, ‘Janie’s Got a Gun.’ … In the sidebar on YouTube, it said, ‘Found a Gun in the Forest while Metal Detecting.’ So, I happened to click that one.”

Within two days of going down a classic YouTube rabbit hole on the hobby, Bowes was hooked – so much so that he started his own YouTube channel that now has more than 4,000 subscribers.

Kern and Bowes dug more into the equipment he now uses while metal detecting, relics he typically finds in his home country of Canada, such as wartime artifacts and axes, restoration of certain historical finds, and his greatest moments while detecting.
