If a live event runs into issues, it is embarrassing for all involved. When Samsung held its signature reveal event, Unpacked 2019, on February 20, it could not afford to have any negative publicity overshadow the unveiling of the products that it expects to drive sales this year.

“When we’re at an event like this, a product launch, something that’s ground breaking and going to change the industry, there are no second chances. We have got to get it right regardless of any problems that get thrown at us,” Brown Pelican WiFi CEO Marybeth Hall said.

Samsung partnered with Brown Pelican WiFi to ensure that the 3-4,000 people in attendance at the Bill Graham Auditorium in San Francisco could access their own personal area network. This allowed everyone to have a customized experience at the show and provided security to the network that would otherwise not be possible.

The hardware that makes the this possible must be reliable and capable of hosting thousands of users simultaneously, while also providing fast connectivity speeds.

“We have about 60 504 access points deployed in there. They’re under the seats. For it to be right, we’ve got to make sure everything is where it needs to be,” Hall said before the event. “We’ve got to deliver the network to the people, not expect them to go where the network is.”

The partnership proved to be successful. The event, which revealed five major Samsung Galaxy products including the new Galaxy Fold, had no reported connectivity or streaming issues.
