Smart brands are ditching generic swag for personalized giveaways that actually strengthen customer loyalty and brand connection

In a recent discussion, Jesse Cole of the Savannah Bananas highlighted the fundamental shift needed in promotional strategies to genuinely resonate with audiences. Moving beyond traditional promotional items like keychains and t-shirts, Cole advocates for a more personalized approach to make a real impact on customers.

To truly engage customers and elevate brand visibility, one must think beyond the norm and invest in promotional strategies that are both imaginative and intimately aligned with the brand's identity and values.

We've all been there where we've either received or given a keychain, a t shirt, a koozie with another brand's BOGO on it. The reality is that doesn't matter to us. What matters to them is their own brand, their own logo, their own name. So let's not keep getting key chains and getting little promotional items to send to our customers. Let's find those things that really matter. For us, I remember when someone sent me a custom mug with the Savannah bananas logo on it. That's more special than seeing it with x y z accountant. So there's a great way you can win in gifts. And one of the greatest teachers on that is is John Ruhlin with Giftology. Let's think about not what everyone else is doing. Let's think about what matters to your people. Those examples matter and and that's how you can stand out and be different. I challenge you to first write three promotional items that you got at a trade show that actually stood out that you kept that really made a difference that are different and then I would challenge you what could be three that you could come up with that would stand out that are a little different. Take some inspiration from this crazy prop closet and think alright is it funny underwear? Is it a jockstrap? I don't know. What is it that you're giving away that could create some noise and make people think, hey. These guys are different. They're not like everybody else.
