4 Quick Tips to Help You Be More Comfortable on Camera

MarketScale’s Sr. Director of Publishing, Ben Thomas, has been helping brands broadcast to live audiences for years. In this time, he’s learned the dos and don’ts about messaging, planning and production of these events. Here are four of his tips to help you be more comfortable on camera and alleviate presentation anxiety.

1. Watch more content

View industry programming and pay close attention to how the presenters act and the setup—camera angles, eye contact, backgrounds, etc. Note what you like or didn’t like to assist your performance.

2. Prepare

While you don’t want to write a word for word script, it’s a good idea to outline points to refer to during the event.

3. Practice

Nothing can replace practicing. Record yourself then play it back to determine what worked and where you need to improve. Then try it again. You can also ask for feedback from colleagues.

4. Pre-record

If possible, pre-record some segments. In doing this, you can try multiple takes and edit out mistakes.
