Headless APIs are part of the suite to close channel gaps in B2B transactions.

Salesforce shipped a broad B2B Commerce update on July 21, 2026, centered on a native Buyer Agent that can handle product discovery, order management, and purchase completion through conversational channels, including WhatsApp and SMS, without any involvement from a sales rep. The release, reported by Demand Gen Report and detailed on the Salesforce blog, bundles agentic commerce, intent-driven AI search, omni-channel quoting, mobile app publishing, and a headless developer framework into one connected suite built on the Agentforce platform.

Ten channels, one buyer, zero handoff friction

B2B buyers now use an average of ten channels across a single purchase, according to McKinsey and Company. That volume creates serious operational exposure: disconnected systems between digital storefronts, sales reps, ERP back ends, and messaging apps produce broken handoffs that stall deals and erode buyer confidence. Salesforce designed the new suite specifically to eliminate those gaps.

At the center of the update is Buyer Agent, embedded natively in B2B Commerce on Agentforce. It functions as a 24/7 intelligent assistant, meeting buyers on the channels they already use rather than forcing them to a dedicated portal. Buyers can search, configure, and purchase entirely through conversation. Buyer Agent also delivers product recommendations with rich visuals rather than plain text links, a shift intended to replicate the white-glove experience that enterprise buyers increasingly expect after years of polished consumer apps.

B2B buyers navigate ten channels on a single deal; any tool that keeps that journey intact without a human handoff is not a convenience feature, it is a revenue protection measure.

Search that works from a description, not a part number

Keyword-based product search has been a persistent friction point in B2B commerce, particularly for companies with large or technically complex catalogs. The new AI-Driven and Attribute-Based B2B Search understands intent rather than requiring an exact match. According to the Salesforce blog, a buyer can describe a component by its application and operating environment, such as a bearing rated for high load in a saltwater setting, and the engine returns precise results without a SKU.

Merchandising teams gain granular control through attribute-based ranking, letting them tune visibility and prioritization at the product attribute level. The practical outcome is fewer "no results found" dead ends and higher average order values, as buyers are guided toward relevant substitutes or complementary products rather than leaving the session empty-handed.

Quote to cart and mobile publishing close the channel gap

The omni-channel piece of the release centers on a Round Trip Quoting flow. The Request for Quote capability was already generally available; the new addition is Quote to Cart, which converts an approved, negotiated quote directly into a checkout-ready cart. Sellers share the cart link with the buyer, context and pricing intact, cutting the manual re-entry that typically delays complex orders after a quote is finalized.

Mobile Publisher extends that reach further. Companies can now build and deploy branded mobile apps to the Apple App Store and Google Play without building from scratch, giving buyers a native checkout experience with FaceID, camera, push notifications, and location. For procurement teams that manage repeat orders on the go, a native app with stored account data is materially faster than a mobile-optimized browser session.

Headless architecture cuts time to launch new storefronts

Rounding out the release, the Headless360 Reference Architecture and API Library gives development teams a functional, pre-built application blueprint for orchestrating B2B journeys from catalog to checkout. Teams can build front ends in React, Vue, or other modern frameworks while Agentforce maintains a single unified data layer on the back end. According to Demand Gen Report's coverage, the architecture is designed to reduce the time it takes to launch new digital channels, which matters most for enterprises running multiple regional or business-unit storefronts that today require separate build cycles.

Taken together, the capabilities position Salesforce's B2B Commerce as a platform for companies that need to operate across channels they do not control, from messaging apps to third-party marketplaces, while keeping sales, pricing, and inventory data synchronized. The next milestone to watch is enterprise adoption data on Buyer Agent usage volume across WhatsApp and SMS, which Salesforce has not yet disclosed.
