Mentions and Citations reveal what AI is saying about you, while AI Traffic shows the aftermath. Real visitors who clicked through from platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, or Google AI Mode are captured in this report. Use it to link your AI search visibility to actual sessions, conversions, and revenue impact.

Connect Google Analytics

AI Traffic relies on your Google Analytics 4 property. Without this connection, the report remains empty. Ensure GA4 is connected in your AI Visibility project settings to start seeing data. Once linked, sessions typically appear within a few hours.

Access AI Traffic

To find AI Traffic, click AI Traffic under REPORTS in the AI Visibility navigation. The page title will be AI Traffic Analytics. At the top, you'll find two filters:

  • Date range. Defaults to the last 30 days.
  • Source filter. Defaults to All Sources, but you can filter to a specific AI engine.

Adjust Metrics

In the upper right of the AI Traffic Overview, a toggle allows you to switch between four metrics:

  • Sessions. Visits to your site from AI referrers.
  • Users. Unique visitors.
  • Conversions. GA4 conversion events you've configured.
  • Conv. Rate. Conversions divided by sessions.

Below this, you can choose Day, Week, or Month to set the time granularity.

Explore the Overview

The Overview includes two paired charts and a source breakdown:

  • Sessions Over Time. A line chart of AI-referred sessions by date, segmented by AI source.
  • Share of Sessions. Shows the mix of AI sources sending visitors, expressed as a stacked percentage over the date range.
  • Sessions by AI Source. A pie chart and ranked table displaying the number of sessions and their share from each AI engine.

Below the Overview, four totals summarize the period: Total Users, Total Sessions, Total Conversions, and Conversion Rate.

Compare AI Traffic to Total Web Traffic

Scroll past the Overview to find the comparison block, which features two charts:

  • AI Search % of Total Web Traffic. Displays the share of total site traffic from AI referrals.
  • AI Search vs Organic vs Other Web Traffic. A side-by-side comparison of AI search with organic search and direct traffic.

This view helps answer the frequent executive question: how much of our traffic is driven by AI today?

Pro Tip: Conversion data is only as accurate as the events you've set up in GA4. If Conversions shows 0 but there are sessions, it's likely due to a missing GA4 conversion event, not zero impact. Configure events in GA4 for key actions like form fills, demo bookings, or signups, and Conversion Rate data will populate within a day or two.
