Use AI Visibility to inspect how tracked AI responses discuss your market. Read the underlying answers and citations before interpreting a summary score.

Before you start

Complete workspace setup and confirm the correct business/project. Report names, controls and available actions can vary with dashboard access; use the metric definitions shown in your dashboard.

Steps

  1. Step 1. Open AI Visibility in the intended channel. Check the last completed run and any message that coverage is still processing.

  2. Step 2. Choose the reporting period and the relevant prompt/model/market filters offered by the dashboard. Record those choices so you can reproduce the comparison.

  3. Step 3. Open a tracked question that matters to your buyer. Read the full response and inspect its cited URLs; verify that mentions refer to your company rather than a similarly named organization.

  4. Step 4. Separate the observations: a mention is text about the brand; a citation is a linked source. Neither proves someone clicked through to your site.

  5. Step 5. Compare the same question set, models, market and date basis across periods. Note any changes to prompts or competitors; a changed sample can change the score without a corresponding business change.

  6. Step 6. Review the recommendation or content gap against the actual answer. Choose a useful action your team can substantiate, such as a technical explanation from a field expert.

  7. Step 7. Create a task in Workbench or your agreed task workflow. Include the question, evidence/run date, contributor, reviewer, due date and intended publication destination.

  8. Step 8. After the approved content is live, save its URL with the task. Review subsequent comparable runs and relevant measured traffic; do not mark an outcome improved solely because a draft was created.

Check the result

You should have a reproducible finding and a concrete next action. Keep the question, run context and source URLs together so another person can verify your conclusion.

Measure

What to check

Brand mentions

Does the response actually identify your company?

Citations

Which URL is linked, and does it support the claim?

Visibility/position score

Use the dashboard’s definition and compare the same sample.

AI referral traffic

Use connected analytics for measured visits; this is not the number of mentions.

Conversions/key events

Check the source analytics event definition before describing business outcomes.

If something does not work

  • A summary metric is unclear: read its current definition and denominator. Do not assume every score uses the same ranking formula.

  • A chart is empty: check filters, completed runs and coverage before interpreting it as no mentions.

  • The analytics view is disconnected: confirm the supported connection process and intended GA4 property with your MarketScale team.

  • If an export action is available, retain the period and filter context with it. Otherwise record the relevant answer and source links; do not assume every report supports the same export.
