Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts, was named top NFL venue recently by Stadium Journey’s Paul Swaney. He cites the stadium’s excellent location between downtown Indianapolis and the interstates, and the exciting experience that awaits fans inside. Larry Hall, Vice President of Ticket Operations and Guest Services for the Colts, attributes the designation to the hard work of his staff and the sportsmanship and enthusiasm of the team’s players and fans.
Lucas Oil Stadium has several unique features that set it apart from other sports venues in the United States and Canada. For example, the moving window on the northeast side facing the city is the first moving window in the NFL. Seats are known to be more spacious than those at other stadiums, with 33 inches of legroom. The roof opens and closes in a process that only takes 9 minutes, and the steel trusses that support the roof are over 750 long. Lucas Oil Stadium is the first retractable roof stadium in the NFL that opens and closes from sideline to sideline instead of end zone to end zone.[1]
Its two scoreboard video screens are 97 feet wide by 53 feet high, each split into one large video board and two smaller displays. The screens are build with Daktronics premier HD-X technology. There are also 360 degrees of 3-foot tall screens wrapping around the stadium. This array is 1700 feet long.[2]
Lucas Oil Stadium most recently claimed the title of top NFL venue by Paul Swaney from 2011 through 2015.
