U.S., Canada Home to Nearly 500 Zero Energy Buildings

ZE (zero energy) buildings are popping up all over the U.S. and Canada. Their success is due in part to their ultra-low energy consumption that is regenerated through renewable resources. These buildings tolerate any climate on the continent and are helping states meet and exceed their energy efficiency goals. 482 buildings have recently completed the construction process, and another 415 are in development. ZE buildings utilize 50% of the energy of non-ZE structures, and with escalating interest, growing building size, and broadening building types, ZE is carving a critical path to a greener future for North Americans.
