The 2018 World Cup in Russia brings a myriad of different nations to the world’s biggest tournament. Thanks to Tekla Structures Building Information Management software, those squads will have the chance to compete in several dramatically different stadiums.

8 of the 12 stadiums in use were constructed using the Sunnyvale California-based software company’s advanced tool.

Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Saransk, Volgograd, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Sochi and Kazan are all now proud sites of uniquely structured stadiums.

Thick walled pipes, some of them up to 60M in length, with an accuracy of up to 10MM, allowed the designers to create massive structures with a significant reduction of both materials required and in the weight of the completed projects.

The complex 3D models created in the BIM tool could be immediately transferred to fabrication resulting in greater timeline flexibility and accuracy, as well as reducing production times significantly.
