Upstream also reported that L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Offshore secured a contract worth up to $526 million from India's Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) for redevelopment work on the Ratna-I and NLM-14 fields off India's west coast, including replacement of subsea pipelines. The award was reported on September 9, 2026. This is a different customer, region and scope than the Petrobras tender, and the two are not directly linked beyond both involving offshore contracting activity in the same period.

Mooring chain cutting work adds another data point

World Oil reported on September 7, 2026 that Decom Engineering has secured nine offshore mooring chain cutting projects so far in 2026, with about two-thirds supporting offshore installation and commissioning work rather than decommissioning. The company uses its C1-16UL and C1-10 cold-cutting Chopsaw systems to remove excess mooring chain after lines are laid and tensioned. In a campaign offshore West Africa, Decom reported completing four mooring chain cuts on primary lines under roughly 400 tonnes of tension, with individual cuts taking about 11 minutes. Decom said it expects its fleet to grow to 10 C1-16UL units and four C1-10 systems by the end of 2026, with units currently deployed or mobilizing in Brazil, Canada, the United States, the UK North Sea and Cameroon.
