Overview

Podcast episodes are a goldmine for short-form content. A single hour-long conversation can yield dozens of shareable clips for LinkedIn, social media, or internal distribution. This article walks you through the workflow for identifying moments in your episode and submitting them to the editing team as clip requests.

Step 1. Upload your episode as a new video

To request clips from a podcast episode, you need to upload the episode as a new video in MarketScale. Once a video has been edited and marked as Complete, no further edit requests can be made on that version, so each new clip request requires uploading the source file fresh.

Click the Upload button in the toolbar, give the upload a clear title (e.g., "Episode 12. Clips Request"), and hit Start Upload.

Once the upload finishes, it will land in the Inbox waiting for approval. The designated approver needs to approve it before it appears in your feed as a media card. If you're the approver, you can do this yourself. If not, you'll need to ask your approver or an Admin. Admins can approve any content across the channel. Don't move to the next step until the upload is approved and visible in your feed.

Step 2. Open the episode in Media Studio

Once your upload is approved, find its media card on your dashboard and click Media Studio in the bottom right corner to open the proofing room.

Step 3. Watch and mark your moments

Play through your episode and pause at any moment you want to turn into a clip. Leave a timestamped comment at each point with a note describing the clip, for example:

Be as specific as possible with your timestamps and intended use. The more context you give your editor, the closer the clip will be to what you're imagining on the first pass.

Step 4. Submit a clip edit request

Once you've marked all your moments, click Request Edit Now to submit.

In the edit request form, make clear that you're requesting clips rather than a full episode edit. In the Craft your clip field, describe what you want:

Step 5. Review and approve your clips

You'll receive an email notification when your clips are ready. Open the edited version in Media Studio, watch through each clip, and leave any revision notes as timestamped comments before clicking Request Revision if further changes are needed.

Once you're happy with the clips, click Mark Complete to finalize them.
