For over forty years Fiberguide Industries has built a reputation as a reliable, long-term, strategic partner with Original Equipment Manufacturers by providing cost-effective, practical fiber optic solutions engineered to meet a client’s specific needs. However, that’s not the only partnership that has contributed to the company’s success. Fiberguide is proud to have an extensive international network of distribution partners. These partners expand the reach of Fiberguide to better address the needs of current and future clients with innovative solutions.

Fiberguide Begins Life as a National Company

In 1977, when Ted Rich founded Fiberguide in New Jersey, he may not have envisioned the international reach the company would eventually have. Rich established Fiberguide as a specialty optical fiber manufacturer producing both non-standard fibers and specially coated fibers for the nuclear, medical, industrial, and energy industries. As demand grew, Fiberguide merged with Highlight Fiber Optics in Idaho, later opening a state-of-the-art CNC Machining Center there. This new center marked a significant expansion for Fiberguide, but that was just the beginning.

The Company Expands to Serve an International Audience

Since the 1990s, Fiberguide has been expanding its network of distributors around the globe in order to serve an expanding international client base better. The company opened a Chinese sales office in 2010, followed by a manufacturing facility in Shanghai in 2012. This location manufactures, stocks, and ships products to Chinese customers, thus reducing transport and customs complications. The Shanghai expansion marked the beginning of a direct international presence with more to come. In 2018, for example, an account manager was added in Europe to serve customers better.

A Global Network of Distributors to Address Client’s Needs

Today, the strong network of global distributors has the technological expertise to provide all of Fiberguide’s products and services to customers. Each of these partners is assigned a Fiberguide manager who regularly visits to answer questions and provide training. Clients can call their local distributor at any time without any concerns about differences in time zones, or visit their nearby office to view products or have a meeting. And if a client has a custom order, their local distributor can draw on the expertise of Fiberguide engineers to deliver an innovative solution.

Fiberguide’s reliable network of distributors in the United States and overseas allows us to serve global consumers and corporations at the local level. Antibody developability checks are moving into discovery instead of waiting for development

Antibody developability checks are moving into discovery instead of waiting for development

Maria Gonzalez-Pajuelo of FairJourney Bio says the order in antibody discovery is changing: developability has become a much more important consideration during discovery, rather than an issue left until later-stage development. The goal, she says, is that what comes out of discovery is something CMC can take forward easily.

  • 01Discovery-stage developability screens can rank many antibodies tested once or twice and may reduce surprises later in development, while development still focuses on several lots of a single antibody and answers different questions.

Caraballo expects AI across all five tracks at ISPE’s 2026 Annual Meeting

Caraballo expects AI across all five tracks at ISPE’s 2026 Annual Meeting

ISPE’s 2026 Annual Meeting and Expo in Washington, DC organizes its program around five tracks running from discovery to governance, with international program committee chair Connie Langer of Pfizer Global Supply and executive chair Jose Caraballo of JCO Global Advisory LLC describing how the tracks connect—and why AI is treated as a cross-cutting topic rather than a standalone track. Deloitte’s December 2025 survey of 280 executives frames the mood the program is built for.

  • 01ISPE’s 2026 Annual Meeting has no dedicated AI track; executive chair Jose Caraballo expects AI presentations across all five tracks, from discovery to governance.
  • 02Deloitte’s December 2025 survey of 280 biopharma and medtech C-suite executives found more than 75% confident in their own outlook but only 41% optimistic about the global economy, a mood the story says the ISPE chairs are programming for.
  • 03A staffing firm reports life sciences job openings falling even as digital fluency becomes a required skill, so the upskilling burden lands on the people already employed, which is where the mandatory, university-partnered AI training Connie Langer describes at her company sits.

Crown Bioscience's San Diego site fits the tumor model to the therapy, not the reverse

Crown Bioscience's San Diego site fits the tumor model to the therapy, not the reverse

Crown Bioscience's San Diego site designs preclinical tumor models to match specific therapies and delivery routes, rather than forcing treatments into standard study designs. It combines custom surgical procedures, cell line-derived xenografts, patient-derived xenografts (including post-treatment models), and biomarker capabilities to generate translational data that can help sponsors decide whether to advance a program.

  • 01Orthotopic brain tumor implantation using tagged models lets researchers track tumor growth in the original organ, aligning the model and delivery route with how therapies are intended to be tested.
  • 02Patient-derived xenografts developed from tumors after prior treatment may better reflect progressed disease, helping teams study therapies aimed at patients whose cancer has advanced after earlier treatment.
  • 03Combining biomarker analysis of preclinical model samples with clinical sample testing at one site could make it easier to connect what is measured in animals with what is later measured in patients.
