The Bureau of Labor Statistics announced December’s job growth on Friday and the US Economy has added 145,000 Jobs nationwide. Nearly a quarter of the jobs stemmed from the retail sector due to the holiday shopping season and are projected to maintain during the “Returns Season” through January 2020.
December’s growth had 100,000 fewer jobs than November, which had a boost from General Motors workers returning from a four-month strike.
Despite not meeting economists’ expectations, the unemployment rate remained consistent at 3.5 percent. Wage growth reached 0.1 percent for the month of December, putting the year’s rate at 2.9 percent.
