Managing the complexities of a multi-cloud environment that addresses both the technical and business needs for commercial organizations can be a challenge.

Fortunately, there are tools and experts available to provide critical tools in the form of solutions and insights.

Howard Holton, CTO of Hitachi Vantara, joined this episode of the podcast to discuss ways to mitigate the complexities of cloud environments, best practices and what IT and business leaders should learn from the current coronavirus pandemic.

Hitachi Vantara is a proud partner of ViON, the leader in IT solutions and cloud services with 40 years of experience in the industry delivering everything from storage to AI either as-a-service or as a data center solution.

As a CTO who has helped many companies with their cloud needs, Holton provided helpful insights for how we should view these environments.

“I would say cloud is any consumable service that you manage … that is hosted external to your organization,” he said. “I realize that’s broad, and I think that’s OK. Because, ultimately, what we need to do is think about that as an enterprise asset and how we manage and govern and control and fund that asset.”

Holton spoke to the value of utilizing a multi-cloud management platform like the one ViON provides. These platforms provide what he described as a “single pane of glass” for your multi-cloud view, simplifying the approach and building a framework through which you see the information that is relevant to you.

Holton also explained that the COVID-19 pandemic has provided a test case for business continuity plans. He discussed that many companies have found that their internet bandwidth isn’t sufficient to handle their remote workforce.
