Integrating shot blasting with finishing systems requires speed control that traditional fixed-rate equipment simply cannot deliver

When shot blasting is part of your pretreatment process, seamless integration with your finishing system is essential. IntelliFinishing systems are designed with this in mind, offering the flexibility and control needed to get the best results from your shot blast equipment.

As John Claman of IntelliFinishing explains, traditional chain-based systems run at a fixed speed, limiting your ability to adjust for different part types or surface conditions. In contrast, IntelliFinishing allows you to control the speed of each carrier, slowing it down for more intricate or heavily soiled parts and speeding it up when less prep is required. This fine-tuned control helps ensure consistent surface preparation across a wide range of products.

IntelliFinishing allows you to control the speed of each carrier, slowing it down for more intricate or heavily soiled parts and speeding it up when less prep is required.

Some customers even take advantage of IntelliFinishing's recipe-based automation, running select parts through the shot blast more than once. Once the ideal settings are dialed in for a particular product, the system remembers them—ensuring repeatable, reliable results without added manual effort.

For manufacturers looking to improve quality and efficiency in their pretreatment process, IntelliFinishing offers a smart, adaptable solution that works exceptionally well alongside shot blast machines.

Hi. This is John Klayman with IntelliFinishing. Does your finishing system work well with shot blast machines? Absolutely. In fact, I believe an Intelli finishing system may be one of the best conveyorized systems to work with any sort of shot blast pretreatment plan on a finishing system. We can change the speed of that carrier as it goes through the shot blast spray pattern, and we can slow it down for intricate parts or for especially dirty parts or rusty parts or parts with lots of native oils on them. We have that ability to modify the profile that the shot blast is going to apply on that part based on simply slowing the part down or potentially speeding that part up. For example, one of our customers in Wichita has speeds for their shot blast in their menu system that are five feet per minute, eight feet per minute, ten feet per minute, fifteen, twenty. And it all is based on what is the substrate that they're trying to shop last, what is the intricacy of the product itself, and how well does it work. They even have a recipe option where they may throw that whole carrier product back through the shop last twice. They'll run it through the system, and maybe this is the first product of a whole bunch of these particular products that they're going to run, they'll look at it and say, you know, it could use a little more work in this blast. Back it up and then send it on back through the shot blast. And then every carrier or product after that where they do that same type of product just automatically selected as one of their shot blast options. They have this ability to run a carrier automatically through the blast two times instead of just once. That's the kind of flexibility an an IntelliFinishing system can provide that is difficult to match with any type of chain system or power and free system. Thanks.
