Revolutionizing Facility Management and Retail Spaces Through Analytics

On today’s MarketScale video stream, Galia Rosen-Schwarz, VP of Business Development at Resonai, visits with MarketScale’s Taylor Bagley to discuss how the company is utilizing AI and AR to revolutionize how people interact with 3D structures and buildings in terms of design and functionality.

Using 3D scanners to scan any building or retail space—regardless of size or scale—VERA, Resonai’s computer vision-based AR platform, transforms physical spaces into digital assets, then uploads that data to the cloud. Empowering multiple applications, VERA enables an intelligent digital twin within just a few hours, reconstructing an entire space so that stakeholders can both analyze and understand the structure and its semantics, including the recognition of different objects within the location.

An innovative startup, Resonai is currently focusing their technology in a few specific verticals, including facility management, entertainment and retail, working with these businesses to bring experiences to tenants, technicians and consumers. For retailers, VERA offers personalized indoor navigation experiences within a store or mall that can direct consumers to the goods that they need while tracking their behaviors and the products they’re interacting with.

For facilities, VERA enables smart ticketing systems that recognize where a maintenance technician is within a building and the objects they’re interacting with, allowing the quick and easy retrieval of maintenance history and ticket generation without needing to describe what the issue is or exactly where it’s at within the building. For users, the process is simple: they simply download the VR app on their mobile device to gain access to different apps existing within that space.

Says Rosen-Schwarz, “I think this technology can really, at the end of the day, revolutionize the whole way buildings are being operated and managed across their entire lifecycle.” She goes on to say, “The opportunities here are so huge, because essentially, on Vera, you can create any app that needs to understand its environment, and by understanding, we understand it precisely—the structure, the objects, the semantics, the contents.”

According to Rosen-Schwarz, the technology behind Vera can be grouped into two groups of core technology being developed in-house: (1) Semantic understanding: these are technologies for the segmentation of environments which takes an entire space down to different single objects; and (2) 3D object recognition and search: the ability to take any 3D object in any format and understand its precise geometry and structure. With plenty of experience in these core technologies, Resonai’s VERA offers so much more than what the other AR experiences or AR platforms of today can provide.
