Chinese battery manufacturer CATL and energy company Octopus announced a partnership to build more than 30 battery-swapping stations for electric trucks in Europe by 2035, with the first hubs opening in the UK in 2027, according to the Financial Times. The network is expected to serve more than 300,000 electric trucks and attract more than £30 billion in private investment across the region.

Battery swapping addresses one of the central obstacles for heavy freight electrification: the time and infrastructure cost of overnight depot charging at scale. Separately, India's government launched a sustainability certification initiative aimed at helping its export sectors meet environmental reporting requirements in Europe and North America, which together account for roughly 40 percent of India's merchandise exports, according to the Economic Times. And in the EU, the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group opened a field test for a new sustainability reporting standard targeting non-EU companies with significant European operations, per ESG News.
