DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., February 23, 2022 (Newswire.com) – Stenograph, LLC, the leader in technology development for court reporting and captioning professionals, announced the recipient of a scholarship that honors Stenograph’s founder, Milton H. Wright. Stenograph, LLC, in partnership with the National Court Reporters Foundation, awarded this merit-based scholarship to Carmen James. Ms. James is a student at the College of Court Reporting, Inc. in Valparaiso, Indiana.

“I am so honored to receive this scholarship,” Carmen James said. “Stenographers provide such invaluable services to our communities and that is one of the reasons why becoming a court reporter is one of my highest personal goals. Receiving this scholarship will make it possible for me to continue on in my court reporting education and eventually make that goal a reality. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and will use it as motivation to continue working hard to graduate and join the ranks of the court reporting profession.”

“Stenograph is very happy to support such a well-deserving student as Ms. James through the granting of the Milton H. Wright Memorial Scholarship,” said Stenograph’s Vice President of Marketing, Dan Denofsky. “Ms. James has demonstrated not only a commitment to the quality and skill of a first-class court reporter, but through her essay, she is showing innovation and ingenuity to the concept of recruiting more stenographers to join the court reporting industry. It is suggestions and creativity from those like Ms. James that give us such confidence in the health of the court reporting industry. We at Stenograph are happy to help Ms. James pursue a successful and fulfilling career as a certified court reporter.”

“It has been an honor for us at the National Court Reporters Foundation to partner with Stenograph to offer Stenograph’s Milton H. Wright Memorial Scholarship,” said Early Langley, NCRF Chair. “We are confident that this generous scholarship, coupled with its generous benefits, creates a giant career step forward for its student winner. We congratulate Carmen James as the NCRF-Stenograph scholarship’s newest recipient.”

Stenograph’s Milton H. Wright Memorial Scholarship, worth up to $5,000, includes the use of a student writer and software.

ASU’s Work+ aims to make campus jobs count toward career readiness

Higher ed has long measured success by completion, but ASU’s research into noncompleters found many questioning whether college is worth the time and money right now. ASU’s Work Plus initiative redesigns on-campus jobs around skill development, while ASU also pursues work-integrated learning across degrees to reduce reliance on external internships that can exclude students without time or means.

  • 01Shift from time-to-completion to time-to-value: ASU found noncompleters want value they can feel now, not only at graduation
  • 02The Work Plus Collective includes 37 partner institutions and uses user-centered design, spending time with supervisors, student employees, and administrators before proposing changes to student employment.
  • 03Institutions must fix systems-level hiring barriers and curriculum approval bottlenecks before redesigning programs; institutionalizing changes takes multiple years per campus

Impact Public Schools wants software to sort students into intervention tiers

Impact Public Schools wants software to sort students into intervention tiers

Impact Public Schools, a Washington charter network, wants a custom tool that sorts students into Tier 1-3 groups from benchmark data and recommends interventions for students in Tiers 2 and 3. Proposals are due Oct. 9. Missouri's North Kansas City Schools wants a dashboard that consolidates data from its student information system and its assessment, attendance and behavior systems. Side by side, the requests suggest one buyer wants to see its data and the other wants to act on it.

  • 01A decade after the national ed-tech plan made dashboards a priority, a 1,751-student charter network is asking software to do the student grouping itself and recommend Tier 2 and 3 interventions.
  • 02North Kansas City's dashboard request is a useful spec to measure against: student information, assessment, attendance and behavior data in one platform, built for district leaders, principals and teachers.
