A Look Inside the 2019 Paris Air Show

One of the most significant dates on the aviation calendar has arrived. Through Sunday, June 23, the skies over Paris, France will be filled with the most innovative flying machines as just one part of the annual Paris Air Show.

The largest brands in aviation including, Boeing, Airbus, Rolls Royce, and General Electric are among the 2,381 exhibitors this week. Much of the action and learning will take place on the ground however.

Two major initiatives at this year’s edition, the 53rd annual, are the Paris Air Lab and the Careers Plane.

The former focuses on job opportunities, particularly among young professionals, and the latter is a forum for the exchange of ideas, innovations and emerging technology.

One area that shows the growth of the show and industry as a whole is the use of virtual and augmented reality.

Accialini said on LinkedIn of his experience at the show yesterday, “Compared to 2 years ago, it seems evident how new technologies are changing the scenario in the upcoming years. Several stands offered to experience VR for a broad range of applications, as well as 3D printing, with companies like Stratasys or Carpenter showing different ways to use this great technology to build aerospace structures and components.”

The show has several hands-on exhibitions this year and has evolved into a showcase for more than just pilots and aircraft manufacturers.
