Overview

This short training video with David Dabney clarifies a common source of confusion on the MarketScale platform: the difference between comments left on the channel dashboard feed and comments left inside Media Studio. In just over a minute, David explains where each type of comment lives, who can see them, and why using the right comment location is essential for a smooth production workflow. Understanding this distinction helps teams avoid miscommunication and keeps editorial feedback in the hands of the people who need it most.

What Is This?

Feed comments and Media Studio comments are two separate communication layers on the MarketScale platform — feed comments are visible only to your internal team, while Media Studio comments are visible to the editing team and are the correct channel for production-related feedback.

Deep Dive

One of the most frequent points of confusion for new MarketScale users is assuming that any comment left on a piece of content will reach everyone involved in the project. In practice, the platform separates internal team communication from editorial communication through two distinct comment environments, and knowing which one to use makes a meaningful difference in how efficiently your content gets produced.

Feed-level comments appear on the channel dashboard and are accessible to members of your internal organization. These comments are useful for internal alignment — sharing notes, flagging questions for colleagues, or keeping a record of decisions made within your team. However, because editors operate primarily within Media Studio, they do not have visibility into these feed-level comments. Leaving revision requests or production notes there means they are effectively invisible to the people responsible for acting on them.

Media Studio is the dedicated environment where editors work on your content. Comments left inside Media Studio are tied directly to the project and are visible to the editing team, allowing them to see, understand, and act on your feedback in context. This is the correct place to request changes, provide direction, or ask questions that require an editor's attention.

Adopting this distinction as a standard practice within your team removes a significant source of delay. When feedback lands in the right place the first time, editors can move forward without needing to chase down notes or wait for clarification. For teams managing multiple pieces of content simultaneously, this simple habit has a compounding effect on overall production efficiency and turnaround time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my editing team see comments I leave on the channel dashboard feed?

No. Feed-level comments on the channel dashboard are only visible to your internal team members. Editors work inside Media Studio and do not have access to feed comments, so any production feedback left there will not reach them.

Where should I leave feedback if I want my editor to see it?

You should always leave feedback directly inside Media Studio, where editors can view and act on your notes. This ensures your revision requests and production direction are tied to the correct project and visible to the right people.

Is there a risk of losing feedback if I leave it in the wrong place?

The feedback itself is not deleted, but it will not be seen by your editing team if it is left at the feed level rather than inside Media Studio. This can lead to missed revisions, delayed timelines, and unnecessary back-and-forth between teams.

After watching this video, it is worth exploring how to navigate Media Studio to understand the full range of tools available during the content review and editing process. Learning how to manage project statuses and production stages on the MarketScale platform will also help you build a more efficient end-to-end workflow for your team.
