Watch: Walt Disney World Is Getting a New Monorail Fleet

Disney Imagineer Bob Gurr confirmed during a Facebook Q&A event on Saturday night that Walt Disney World’s Monorail is getting some upgrades. “There is a contract… contracts are underway. You will see new monorails. If everything works right, it will be the same company, Bombardier.

Bombardier designed and created the current fleet back in 1986. The “Mark VI Monorails” debuted to park goers at Walt Disney World back in 1989. Gurr also stated that “machines do not last forever” and the current fleet was designed to last for 20 years.

With the 50th Anniversary of Disney World coming in 2021, guests could be riding in style with the new fleet.
