In the fast-paced world of education, innovation and adaptability are essential to nurturing young minds effectively. Meet Daniel Thompson, an exemplary science teacher at the renowned Ron Clark Academy, who has been teaching for over a decade. In this inspiring video, Daniel shares how he discovered the ultimate solution to enhance his science classes – Labdiscs.

Labdiscs, a compact all-in-one device by Boxlight, have revolutionized how Daniel conducts experiments with his sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade students. The hot take? Simplicity is the key to unlocking the true potential of science education.

Gone are the days of cumbersome lab tools and time-consuming setups. Daniel’s experiments have taken on a new dimension of ease and efficiency with Labdiscs. Whether checking heart rates during physical exercise or building electrical circuits with household items, students are now actively engaged in their scientific journey.

But it’s not just about convenience. Labdiscs instill a sense of awe and excitement in young scientists. The technology allows students to delve into the wonders of science, empowering them to think like scientists and envision a fulfilling career in the field.

At the Ron Clark Academy, the mantra is “no one way to achieve a goal.” Embracing this philosophy, Daniel seamlessly integrates digital tools like Labdiscs with traditional methods. The student’s understanding of technology grows alongside their grasp of scientific concepts.

The impact reaches beyond the classroom walls, as students embrace limitless possibilities. By condensing various lab tools into a single device, Labdiscs optimize space and provide a dynamic learning experience.

As educators worldwide seek innovative ways to inspire and nurture future generations, Labdiscs prove to be the catalyst for a transformative journey. Let’s follow in Daniel’s footsteps and embrace this groundbreaking technology to ignite the flame of curiosity and learning in young minds everywhere. Together, we can spark a scientific revolution that shapes a brighter future for us all.

So my name is Daniel Thompson. I teach six seventh and eighth grade science here at the Ron Clark Academy. So I've been teaching of over ten years now. In seventh grade, we we've just finished our unit on the human body systems where we had the opportunity to use the lab disc to check out the student's heart rate and their pulse. They were very intrigued to see that when They did a little bit of physical exercise, the fluctuation in their heart rate. In eighth grade, we are just finishing up our unit on electrical circuits. The students built a electrical circuit box using different shoe boxes and items around their home. We've done A lot of various different types of experiments in here. Some of my favorite have been the pH, the heart rate sensors. I really enjoy using the distance versus time seg it. So overall, the way that the lab disc has changed, the way that I do the experiments now is just simplicity. And I think that is something that teachers everywhere looking for, piece of use. So for example, I may use temperature probes. Although, I do think there is value in teaching students how to use a temperature probe. It's also very important to know how to do things digitally. Anytime that students have the ability to use materials, and to feel like they're a scientist. It gives them that vision that this is a career that they can do. We like to do things differently. We said that there's no one way in order to achieve a goal. Having a ton of lab tools and that being a very cumbersome thing in here, it could be overbearing. I don't have a huge closet space. Having the lab disc allows me the ability to condense all the things I need into a small disc. It gives the student the ability to learn about technology, learn about science, learn about different lab tools all in one device. I find that to be a a really, really wonderful piece within my teaching.
