Construction and mining leaders are discovering that electric equipment options already exist to accelerate their decarbonization efforts

How prepared is the construction and mining industry for the energy transition?

Richard Sambrook, the GM for services and commercial development at Caterpillar, Inc, discussed their readiness for the energy transition at CES 2024 and called attention to the availability of fully electric machines in production today.

At the show, Sambrook stated there are a number of energy transition solutions to be discovered, and explained what the journey could look like in achieving them.

"In terms of, are we ready? I guess we've got solutions that are out there ready for customers. However, there's still a lot we've got to learn. It's an awful lot to learn, and that's what we're here to do over the next few years and learn as much as possible," said Sambrook.

Hi. I'm Richard Sambrook, and I'm the GM for services and commercial development at Caterpillar, Inc. Caterpillar, Inc. Is one of the leading manufacturers of construction equipment, mining equipment, and energy and transportation solutions. We're here today at CES where we're demonstrating or displaying a number of different solution for the energy transition. One of the questions I was asked was are we there yet? What I'd like to say to that is you can see behind us a fully electric machine. It's in production today. We've got a number of different solutions of the stand today that are in production or are very close to production. So in terms of, are we ready? I guess we've we've got solutions that are that are out there ready for customers. However, there's still a lot we've gotta learn. We do everything from tiny little excavators all the way up to very large pieces of equipment. They're used in a whole variety of locations or it loads of different geographies and loads of different, use cases. So there's a whole load of obstacles and challenges that customers are gonna face adopting this of technology. It's an awful lot to learn, and that's what we're here to do over the next few years as learned as much as possible.

Asking the most exciting, innovative, cutting-edge companies in transportation/mobility the “Are We There Yet?” question is a lot of fun, and the focus of Grant Harrell's top video podcast series! And, it’s not a bad question as so much is truly happening in this space today. What used to be trains, planes, and automobiles is now robots, drones, and spaceships, and Grant is curious about how soon we are all going to see these technologies in action, at scale. Very few of us enjoy a car that drives itself, have dinner delivered via drone, or have taken a vacation to space, but these amazing technologies and applications, as Grant discovers within his "Are We There Yet?" podcast series, are here, or as he likes to say, "we're there"! Grant also serves as the Head of Transportation/Mobility for MarketScale, one of the fastest-growing, most-successful, fun b2b media companies in the industry! MarketScale works behind the scenes for many of the top brands today, building their brand, engaging their communities, and telling their incredible stories! Within Grant's leadership of MarketScale's Transportation/Mobility division, he enjoys working with top companies within automotive to aviation, micro-mobility to marine, drones to space exploration, and everyone in between.
