Cablevey’s Cable Technology Eliminates Food Breakage and Enhances Cleanliness

Material breakage is a persistent challenge for factories that rely on conveyor systems to shuttle ingredients within a production facility. It’s a costly problem that negatively impacts the bottom line in the form of wasted materials, expensive maintenance interventions, and unprofitable equipment downtime. To solve the breakage issue, Cablevey Conveyors has engineered a tubular drag and cable conveyor system that utilizes cables and discs to gently transport materials along their intended paths. The system proves effective in moving fragile items such as barley, seeds, cereals, and coffee beans without bumping, battering, stress or friction in order to minimize breakage. So it’s only natural that when Nippon Coffee Trading Co., headquartered in Osaka, Japan, was seeking a solution for delicately conveying its green coffee, the company turned to Cablevey.

The Need For More Flexibility In Conveying

https://cablevey.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/coffee1.jpgSince its founding in 1953, Nippon Coffee has remain committed to providing its customers with the highest quality coffee in the world. In 2015, the company reported sales of $86.7 million[1], and with demand continuing full steam ahead, Nippon sought out a conveying system that offered more flexibility than the conveyors it had relied on in the past. That year, Nippon installed Cablevey’s cable conveyor system, and discovered the technology provided a solution that met its requirements for flexibility, low maintenance, and cleanliness.

“Before 2015, we used bucket, pneumatic, and belt conveyor systems to transport coffee at our facility,” says Mr. Taro Takeda, President of Nippon Coffee Trading Co. “With Cablevey cable technology, we’re enjoyed a high-performance system that offers great flexibility and required very little maintenance expense over the years.”

The Benefits of Cablevey Technology

https://cablevey.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/coffee2.jpgUtilizing Cablevey technology, Nippon Coffee gently transports approximately 600 – 800 kilograms of green coffee beans every hour. Green coffee beans are an extremely fragile ingredient that is known to be much harder to move than whole bean coffee. The cable conveyor system minimizes financial losses that result as a consequence of breakage and degradation.

Food safety is a high priority for Nippon Coffee and its Japanese consumers. Cablevey’s enclosed tubing eliminates opportunities for elements within the environment to contaminate the beans. While no one knows how to properly clean conveyors that leverage chains for transportation, Cablevey’s cable technology makes the process intuitive. And with the cleaning discs Cablevey provided, Nippon Coffee is able to enhance its system’s cleanliness for maximum food safety.

The Conveyor of Choice

Nippon Coffee and clients in 65 countries around the world rely on our technology for reliable material transportation with virtually zero breakage. We also offer a large selection of cleaning mechanisms for wet and dry cleaning, so your system and materials remain contaminant-free. Click here to discover more about how our technology proves to be a superior solution for handling fragile food materials.
