BOSTON, June 30, 2026. Schneider Electric has expanded its EcoCare service plan to 3-phase uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, adding 24/7 remote monitoring, AI-powered condition-based maintenance, and expert support for organizations that need to keep critical power running.
The move targets a costly problem. Schneider cites downtime costs ranging from $10,000 to $10 million per hour, even as U.S. energy demand climbs; its research institute projects the country must add 1,000 to 2,000 TWh of electricity per decade to meet demand from AI, electrification, and industrial growth. In data centers, power is the leading cause of impactful outages, most often traced to UPS issues, and most incidents still involve human error.
The company points to gaps in current practice: it says 98% of sites face electrical safety risks, 71% lack the spare parts needed for business continuity, and 89% of organizations do not follow manufacturer-recommended maintenance.
How EcoCare works
EcoCare shifts maintenance from a fixed calendar to a condition-based model. Data such as temperature, wear, aging, partial discharge, and battery status flows into the EcoStruxure IT architecture, which follows the IEC 62443-4-1 security standard and undergoes CREST-accredited penetration testing. Schneider’s Connected Services Hub monitors UPS assets at the component level around the clock and uses predictive analytics to flag early signs of failure, then responds with remote troubleshooting or a targeted on-site visit.
AI models trained on what Schneider describes as the world’s largest installed base of electrical assets help set maintenance timing by analyzing wear, aging, temperature, and service history.
