Thank you Holly so much for that awesome introduction. We're super excited to be here with you guys today. So, meanwhile, I'd love for you to to give a little bit of information about yourself to to our participants today. Yeah. Thank you, guys, for having me. My name is Manuel Herrera. I am a Canva learning consultant. Quick background, twenty years in education started off as a classroom teacher taught middle school math, you know, the most fun thing that you wanna teach at middle school. And then kind of worked my way into an ed tech role and kind of have been in that world, for the past fourteen, fifteen years. And I'm also an illustrator. So that's some side things that I do, and, really excited to get to to to explore that. And I just finished illustrating my second children's book. So hopefully, very soon I'll have it in my hands, and I can actually show people. But yeah, that's that's kinda who I am and what I do. If you wanna get in touch with me, have any questions around Canva Please reach out to me. My email is there at m herrera at canva learning dot com. My social media accounts are there. If that's something you're involved with, definitely take a look at that. I try to share of the things that we do with Canva and the things that other teachers are doing with Canva. But yeah, that's kinda the quick spill of of who I am and and what I do. Well, illustrator is pretty amazing. I wish I had a cool, hobby slash future career like you do with that. That's amazing. I'm looking forward to seeing your first children's book too. I'm Katie C dramatic, and I'm the community engagement manager for Lumiose. So I work with all of our, capacitors, our certified trainers, and just educators at large that are that are using, Loomio, and making sure I'm part of our customer education teams. They'll help you make sure that we have all the resources you need to be successful, as you continue your journey with Lumio or start your journey if you're new to it. I'm same as Manuel. I love to stay connected, to you. So please don't hesitate to reach out, via email or via social media. If you have any questions or any there's anything I can do to support you. My Twitter account or my, I guess, it's x now. Right? Is my is one that I started as a teacher. I was also from the class in my top for twenty years before starting, in the role that I have now. I taught gifted and talented Kendra through fifth. Which was amazing here in Texas. But that's my account where I still follow and nerd out about all things education so it it does have, of course, I share some of my Lumio favorites, but I also share some of my favorites from places like Tampa and Wakelet, and then it's just some of my favorite educators at large. So I hope I hope to see a few of you, on, Twitter slash x moving forward as well. I I'm still having a hard time with that too. It just made it just made so much sense, right, with, tweets and Twitter, and it's been it's long ingrained. I couldn't have access. What do you mean? So we thought it would be good to Manuel and I wanted to know a little bit more about where you are on. Both your Canva and your LumiO journey. So in just a moment, you're going to be able to drag the Canva icon and the LumiO icon down on this path way to show where you are. So for example, if you're just you're like brand new to Olivia, you haven't even started yet. You're going you can drag and drop your Romeo down in this space here. But if you're on your way or just beginning, or maybe you are feeling like you're getting close are becoming a true expert where you could, where you could share about LumiO and and do your own webinars. You can put it somewhere along that route as well. And then the same thing, you'll think about where on your journey are you with Canvas. So you may have your canva in a different spot than your LumiO, and that's okay. You'll notice right now that if you try and drag either of these icons, it's not working, and that's because right now I have it set to view only so that you could listen to my instructions first. We would love to have you join. So you will notice that Holly popped in a link to join my session. But you can also go to hello smart dot com, enter class ID six two four zero seven zero or if you just click on that link that Lumi that Holly has put into the chat and add your name that will pull you into today session as well, and that will allow you to share where you are on your journey and see a little bit of, what Lumio has to offer from the student perspective as we lead in to learning how to create in Canva and export to LumiO. So go ahead and use that, Lee. I'm gonna go now turn this into an activity that you can actually move those that Canva and LumiO icon. So one of the things I can do as a teacher is I can click on the left hand side where my class management button is. That's where I can see who's connected to my class. That's where I can also pop the directions on out on how to connect to my class as a student. And you can, of course, scan that QR code as well. And then what I'm gonna do is I'm going to convert this to either an individual handout which means every student has their own copy, a group workspace where I put students into small teams, or I can convert this page into whole class whiteboard where we can all be working in the same space together. So I'm gonna convert this to a whole class whiteboard. And at this time, you'll notice oops. Let's see if we can get things reconnected. Let's reload if you see a message waiting saying waiting for your teacher to start the lesson. Don't worry. As soon as I get things up and running again, you will be pulled into the activity. As well. So let's see if I can get this going again. There we go. And I see many more of you have joined in. So now you can drag and drop the that Canva and LumiO icon. I have added those as infinitely cloned objects here so that you can load where you want where you are on your journey. I see we have some new Canva and the Lumio users, which is exciting, Manuel. I see that. I see we have, like, some co presenters with this, I'm always looking for some co presenters. So this is, this is fantastic. I like this. I like this activity. It's like a heat Exactly. You can do a lots of versions of this, right, in the classroom as check ins with your students, see where they are, you know, how are you right at where they are, after their weekend perhaps? Are they ready to learn and whatnot? I can also see which student has added or moved that icon to. So I can see Wendy is kind of newer in her LumiO journey. I can see that Jennifer is newer in her Canva journey, which is pretty cool as well. So I can see which students, are adding icons in different places as well, which is fun. And and I'll tell you the background piece So the where are you on your journey with that cool, arrow was created in Canva. I just exported the whole activity from Canva, and then I added the infinitely cloned objects right inside of Lumia. So bringing in, again, my two two of my favorite tools into one. So I'm excited to see so many new new to Camden, new to Lumiya, because it gave us a chance to talk about, both both tools. And I thought we'd start off by sharing a little bit about Canvas. So let's share what you love about Canva and why we should be using in our classrooms. Yeah. Absolutely. Well, Canva, for education, kind of the the quick explanation of it is it's an all in one visual communications platform. That just means anything that you'd wanna design that you want somebody to see, somebody to look at that's visual, you can design it in Canva. That could be a graphic That could be a poster. That can be, you know, a document. Anything that you are going to share with folks, maybe even print out it's it can all be done in in Canva now. So canva is made up of several different applications within its suite. And so we have a a graphic here that's great. It shows all of the applications. The first one that is very new is is Docs. So think of anything that you would create maybe in a Google doc or in a Word doc, you can now create in Canva. And you're probably wondering why would I create it in Canva? Well, as you learn about all the features and the magic that exists in Canva, you'll you'll start to understand why it's it's valuable and it's more beneficial to to do it in Canva. The the second thing we have are whiteboards. So these are infinite canvases. So kind of think of just like a dry erase board, a whiteboard that you have. You can do brainstorming activities. Maybe you're doing team planning or you're doing, kind of some thinking things with students. They can all collaborate on this white space. The third thing that we have are presentations. So we're kind of using a presentation now. We're educators. That's probably the primary way we deliver content. We have over eighty thousand templates that are geared towards educators, so you don't always have to start from scratch. You can start with really beautiful graphics and really beautiful presentations. The second no. Excuse me. The the fourth thing that we have are social media templates. So maybe you're someone who's involved with creating community outreach or you're working your students and you're teaching them how to, kind of build an online presence. We have lots and lots of templates around using different social medias from Instagram to TikTok, to Facebook. Any of those templates are already built for you. All you're doing is kind of just editing the content that's in there. And then video. This is huge. So this just came out recently last year. We now can create videos in Canva. So now if you wanna design a video from things from, from your own camera, from your own phone or your own device, you can bring all of that into Canva and start to edit really quickly with drag and drop it with a drag and drop editor. And then next we have print. Anything that you would design to print, so posters that might go on your wall, anchor charts, any kind of handouts, any kind of marketing material, kind of depending on your role in your in your organization, you can design in Canva and then print. And then last, we have, websites. So maybe you're you've created all these presentations. You've created all those graphics and you wanna place them somewhere to have easy access for parents or easy access for students. You can put those in a website. So all of it's really, really easy to embed when you use all of these in Canva. I love the idea of the website for, for teachers to use as a communication piece for, for their parents. Right? Great for their newsletters, digital newsletters. Everything can be linked right in there, for easy asset access for parents and students. That's really cool. Yeah. Super super. I have a couple of questions in the chat for you, Manuel. Can I jump in here? Yeah. Absolutely. So first of all, and I now, first, Susan would like to know, is there a way to print without downloading first? Can we print straight from Canva? You can, but it it is a service. So we do have a service where you can print directly from Canva. So if you're just kind of operating from your classroom printer or the printer that's down the hall, you would have to download the design that you've created. That's a great question, though. And secondly, and this might be a great segue in to you a great pairing of Canva plus Limio. Does Canva have an equation editor? We don't. Not at this time, but as quickly as Ganva is evolving I I would expect it to happen soon. I mean, it it's, you know, from the summer to now, we've already added new features and even from the spring to the summer, new features were added. So they're constantly evolving I would definitely see think to see that that would be happening, you know, soon. Yeah, Gintai. I definitely see that about yeah. I definitely see that about Canvas that they always are trying to grow with with the teachers, which is great. I will say like Holly said, one of the things that Leonio does have is an equation editor. So you can create some of your really great graphing backgrounds or things like that within Canva imported into LumiO and then use the equation editor inside of LumiO to create some of those complex, equations, for now. So that's that's another great way for these two tools to work together. Oh, and and so this is a great, this is great evidence, that's, our perfect evidence is showing how quickly it grows. This has seventy thousand I we've updated our presentation slides. There are eighty thousand education specific templates. So, yeah, it's just constantly growing. We are actually, we hire educators to create content. So when you search Canvas templates, you're not only getting beautiful graphics and beautiful designs. You're also getting content that you can start with and kind of mold and shape and make your own. And you also still have access to all of the other templates, not just education templates. Together, there's six hundred and ten thousand non educational templates as well. So maybe you have high school seniors or students who are searching for jobs or roles outside of school, We have templates around resumes, around cover letters, those kind of things that kind of prepare students to be workforce ready. Well, I know I use all of them too. I use what I use the non education ones because teachers are really good at figuring out ways to take ideas and make them work for their classroom. So I know that I'm not alone in that So it's great to have so many different templates available. Definitely a time saver. So thanks for sharing a little bit about what Canva has to offer. I thought was a very small quick introduction. We are gonna get into Canva in a little bit from a teacher perspective as well. So you'll get to learn a little bit more about that coming up. So some of you are also new to Lumiose. I wanted to quickly give a little bit of information at Lumiose, what Lumiose is. So first of all, you can see you're actually in my lesson right now as student. You might have noticed that when I was writing on on slides, you were seeing that annotation come up as a student. You can also notice that when I'm moving pages, you guys are moving pages as well, and that's because I can switch between teacher and student pacing. So right now, you're set to teacher pacing, meaning when I move pages, you're moving along with me, but I can switch back and forth and give students that the power of it, kinda be to move at their own pace when I want to. So a little bit about Lumi. Lumi allows us to take content that we already have or content that we find like saying Canva and mix and match that content to create resources activities and lessons for our students, to do using any device they have access to. All they need need is a web browser. So if you are using, PowerPoint, if you love Google slides or docs, if you use PDF, If you are like the rest of us here who love Canva and you wanna use Canva with your lesson in some of their great templates, all of those things can be imported into LumiO, and then you can layer in and enhance your activities with game based activities, assessments, ready made activities like graphic organizers, digital manipulatives, things like that. And then what's great is you can also convert any page that you pull into LumiO into one of three activities. So you can make it an individual handout where every student has their own copy, a group or space where you put students into teams or even a whole class collaborative space. And then we partner with people like set simulations and desktops. We can pull those graphing calculators and science and math, simulations as well. I already addressed that teacher in student pacing, so being able to switch back and forth as often as you need to. And then I think some important pieces too is we do have immersive reader available with our con with our lessons We can have some teachable moments with this plus button over here. I can add some activities on the fly, which is really exciting. And then for me, sharing is caring. Right? So I can take anything that I create, and I can share it with fellow colleagues with a teacher share link. But I can also give my students asynchronous act access to a lesson. So we can do a lesson live like I'm doing with you today. Or I can handle lesson over with a student share link and students can work independently. A question that I saw come up in the chat was, does student work save and can we access it and see it later? Yes. Everything a student does, including that, first activity that we did all safe. So I can look at it, reflect on it at any time. And then there was another question I saw that was about capacity. You know, how many students can be in your class, Well, you'll see right now I have fifty four students in my class. I have had well over three hundred in a class before, so you can definitely do these activities with large groups of people as well. Holly, anything else question wise that came up before we move on? Nope. I think you have covered the ones that have come up so far. So I think we are good to go. Alright. So I'm gonna continue on and want and talk quickly about Canvas Lumio together. As I said, Canva has been one a tool a go to tool for me for actually many years. I use it when I was in the classroom, and I've been out of the classroom for six years. I actually use it as, I did it with colleague, we led our own technology camp, and Canva was what we used for our student port portfolios throughout the week as well. So it's always been a favorite and it's just grown so tremendously over the the last several years. So I was very excited to see that we could now use can easily get our Canbook content into our LumiO. So we're gonna talk about that. What I love is to look for. I love the app smashes. Like, right? So let's see how we can use these different tools together. So I looked at what it what are my favorite some of my favorite components that Canvas has to offer? And then what are some of the features that I love about Lumi I love the ability to add infinitely cloned objects for drag drag and drop activities for digital manipulatives or those heat maps like we did check ins. What I love Lumio also offers is that game based activities, templates that we can create or find and use with our lessons, that I can convert these different pages to multiple different types of activities. And then I love the set in Desmos, inner, the ability to add feta simulations and does much graphing calculators. Great for students. I was not a middle school math teacher, so I'm not an expert on the Desno's graphing calculator. Can you you would have more to offer manual for for sure with that. Yeah. That's kind of a nice thing to have. My my youngest is in, middle school now, and my oldest is now getting into graphic calculators at high school. Yes. That is that is coming coming back to me a little bit more now. It's been a little while since I've I've been in the classroom as well, but, yeah, that's a nice feature. Nice partnership when you wanna incorporate both of those? Yeah. Anything we can pull things together? Just bring I mean, for me, it's about bringing to life learning for students, and every student needs a different way to interact with content. And being able to move and manipulate things is really helpful for them, I think. For sure. I like how the, you're able to take something that's static and image that comes from Canva and then just add interactive elements. The the what was what did you the infinite cloning fantastic? Yes. Yeah. I I do wish we had that. I will say it's so nice. I'm sure it will come. Interactive activity. That makes it a lot easier. Exactly. So I thought we'd take a quick brief look at from a student perspective of types of activities you might get, either create or find and then how you add to it with Lumio. So for example, I'm gonna I pulled in some activities, some templates that I created around managing stress, which is near and dear to my heart. I have, a call it. I have a call student, and I have two high schoolers, and, and, they're all managing. They're all dealing with a lot of stress. They're talking about how to manage stress is is definitely relevant, and I know it is in the classrooms as well for all ages, of our students. So I thought this would be a really good activity to do, for for kids. The the first thing I wanted to kinda highlight is one of my favorite things that we have is the ability create. Lumi has the ability to create, game games for your students to do. You can do them, build a game in, like, five minutes or less. Super fast. So you guys can actually click start on your screen and play this game. I'm gonna hit model activity, on my screen, but you can hit start on yours. And this is what's called a rank order. So in this case, what I want is I did this as an opinion based activity. So it does there's no right or wrong answer. So I would ask my students, like, what are what do you most often do to manage your stress and what do you least offer didn't do. So if I when I'm stressed, if I, if I most often like to spend time out side, I can drag and drop that picture there. If I leave it at for me, socializing is not how I like to manage my I'm gonna put that near the bottom. I don't tend to create things. So I can kind of maneuver, drag and drop. And then this would be a great time to do a pair share with your students, have them talk about, you know, why do they like to most often go outside or why do they find laughing really help that helps them have to really have that discussion. What's neat here as well is I can as a teacher pop over to the view progress slide. And this allows me to see that I have nineteen students that haven't started this activity. I have thirty that are in progress, and I have thirteen fourteen now that have completed it. I can also show class results so I can see how we did as a class. Now this one doesn't have any right or wrong answer. So if there were right or wrong answers, I'd see what the most frequently missed questions were, and we could address those and discuss. But what I think is really cool here is This average ranking is based on those twenty people who have completed the activity. So this will adjust and change as more people complete. But we can see for a lot of us being outside and laughing and listening to music are what makes what helps us deal with, our stress or how best to deal with our stress. And you can see things might change or adjust in this rank as additional people complete the activity, because it's based on the average of the whole class. So it's pretty neat to see, you know, as a class, we can make some assumptions. Yeah. I I like this, you know, as a as a math teacher, you know, teaching students where data comes from. They get to see the data populate in real time? How does it build? How does it grow? Where do we get averages from? This is this is kind of this is really nice. And what I just because you said Matt, one of my favorite activities a math teacher came up with using this was they did, on March madness. They did, which teams you think is most likely to least likely to win the whole win win the national championship win the whole thing. And so the students first did it just by by instinct based on, like, you know, their love of which teams, but then they had to go and use statistics to back up why whether their their answer made sense, and they could adjust to. So it was really neat to see how you can take something like that and apply it to a content area as well. And then just FYI, we can see student individual data. So if this was an activity that had right or wrong answers, I could also check-in with individual students you can click on someone's name and see exactly how they did. Of course, there's no right or wrong answers here, so I'm not going to have a grade or anything that, but you would if there was an activity that you had wire run. So I love bringing those game based activities in. Let's take a look at some of the things that I brought in from Canvas. So here's an an an example of a graphic that I built in Canva, but then I use this infinitely cloned object for my students to drag and drop. So this I exported from Lumio, and from Canvas straight into Lumio, this background, and then I just added this check mark really quickly so students could drag and drop. Their how they like to manage their stress and then brainstorm other ways that might not have been listed on their previous activity on ways they like to manage stress. And then I'm not gonna spend too much time, but these are just a couple other examples. So I could also do something like this managing stress. And maybe I would wanna put my students into small teams. So I'll go ahead and do that right now. Put you guys into group workspaces. So as a team, I'm gonna do nine teams. Some of you might not be put in teams because we have so many of you in here today, but this will show you a quick example. So this throws your students into teams automatically, but I can rearrange students as I need to, which is nice. And then I can start the workspace. So you are in a team So I know Brooke Holly, Brooke Holly, Shirley, Diane Hope, and Sophia, you guys are all in team one. So if I click on team one space, If you start to use the tools on the left side, we'll see I will see as a teacher, you, annotating writing onto the screen. So will your fellow teammates? If I was doing this in class, I would, of course, have all of that team pick up their devices and go sit in a group together so we don't have Devisolation. We're actually talking and communicating. Oh, I love this line. I'm with you. Let's see. Diane, we could be friends. So so I love that you can, pull those students into groups and work collaboratively as well. Again, this is something that would created very easily using, I used the Venn diagram that was already available in the elements inside of Canva, which is really nice. So it made it super easy to create and get ready export for my students. And of course, I can navigate to different pages as well, which is great. So anything you wanna add, Manuel? Yeah. I was gonna say if you're if you're still kinda new to Canva and you're kind of learning to search resource versus in the chat, I put some search terms that you might wanna search for to kind of pull some of these graphics that you might wanna bring into LumiO. That might help you kind of get started finding some backgrounds and finding some kind of graphic organizers like this Venn diagram, that you can kind of explore a little bit and then bring into, let me know, Absolutely. That that that is really helpful. Finding finding the right search terms always is something that I need. I'm gonna have to go look that chat too. And so I love seeing you'll notice people adding pictures, people adding text, and you're seeing who each of your team's contributions I love too that we could present straight from here as well as a team so I could have teams that come up and share their their responses, which is fantastic. Then the last thing I'll show you show you as a student per from a student perspective before we sign sign into LumiO as a teacher and, see how to use that Canva app I wanted to show you one other quick activity. Shout it out is a great tool, great for exit tickets, entrance tickets, brainstorming, you can build one of these and three easy clicks. So it's something easy to start with if you're new to LumiO, but I'm gonna start for class. You're gonna see on your side as a student that you can, have a little box you can type in. So I want you to share one new way you will manage stress this week. So in that white box, you're gonna type a response. So I would do this with the students. So they've they've sort of thought about different ways to manage stress with that rank order, then they, brainstorm additional ways to, manage stress. Then as a team in small groups, they thought about the Venn diagram and how different ways to, I mean, manage stress and, like, the fact that some some of those ideas could fit more than one place. And now we're having students think, okay, what's one new way I'm gonna manage stress moving forward? I hope that when we did small groups, it was random. So it randomized the groups, but I as a teacher can then go switch drag and drop students as needed. So if I don't think there's a good pairing, I can make adjustments as needed as well. Love these reading is dead reading truly. I should have had that as one of my left because this is this is truly how I manage stress is reading. What about you Manuel? What's your what's your favorite way to manage stress? Run. I do a lot of running and cycling. So those those are probably mine too. Although I did see screaming on there earlier, and sometimes they may need that help. Yeah. Right? Just getting it out is good. So I love that we can see all these ideas. I can magnify them for you we can actually drag and drop and sort them. So if we are looking for, ways to categorize or sort these. So if we were thinking about are there certain categories for managing stress. We could look to see if any of those, like, maybe resting, maybe being more aggressive or things related to exercise, those types of things to put those in the in different groups as well. So that's a quick look at how to do things from a student perspective. What I'd like for everyone to do is get signed in to Lumio as a teacher now. So the first thing you need to do is you need to leave my class So in the top left corner, you're gonna see that you have three horizontal white lines. You're gonna click those lines, and you're gonna choose to leave my class. I can also choose to exit you from my class if I wanted to and remove you as well. Once you've left my class, I'm gonna actually end my activity. What I'd like for you to do is type into a web browser, go lumeo dot com And Holly's actually gonna add this link to the, cat as well. Lumio is free for all users so you can get signed in right away today. So you're gonna go to Lumio. I will actually and you will sign in with either your Microsoft or Google account. So when you go to go lumio dot com, you will see and I'll actually open an incognito window to walk you through. So if you go to go lumio dot com You're you can click either get it free or you can choose teacher sign in. It doesn't matter either place is going to work. If I click teacher sign in, you're either gonna sign in with your school's Google or your school's Microsoft account. And once you're signed in, you're gonna land on a screen that looks similar to mine. And we'll walk through a little bit about this in just a second, but really our main goal is for you to understand how that canned volumio piece is going to work together. If you also have a Canva account, you can go ahead and open your canva, as a secondary task. Now one of the great things, if you I saw there's a lot of new people to Canvas. I wanna make sure Manuel shares this with you. One of the fabulous things about Canvas is it is free to educators, and that free education account gives you access to all of those, all of those, all everything. You get it you get it all. So I wanna make sure that, Manuel talks a little bit about that piece, because I don't want you guys to miss out, on that teacher account. And while you wanna share a little bit about how to access the Canva, for education account for teachers? Sure. I just put into the chat a link to to get you signed up. So if you had the w w w dot canva dot comeducation, that'll take you to a sign in page. Or excuse me, not a sign up page, but a sign up page. So if you're an individual and you just wanna get started today, you can click on the get verified under teachers, and that will verify your education account. Or your educational email, or if maybe you wanna send this to your tech director or maybe your curriculum coordinator to see if you can get your whole school signed up for free. Gonna wanna use that middle button and under schools, and that'll send that'll fill out a form, and that'll get us started kind of getting the ball rolling and get your whole district signed up for free. So it's it's kinda nice, so that will give access not only for you, but that would also give access to your students as well. So, yeah, definitely take a look at that canva dot com forward slash education and choose one of those leaks. And what's the benefit of doing Canva for education? Because it I you can have a Canva free account already. So why why take the extra step of signing up, for the Canva EDU account? So when you do that, you'll have access to all of the resources, but you can also all of your students in. So sharing between students and sharing between staff is a lot easier if everyone has, like, when everyone has accounts. You you can set up groups, you can set up your classrooms, You can also, set it up so that it maybe it communicates with your learning management system, whether it's Google classroom, Schoology, Canva, Canvas or, Microsoft Teams. But, yeah, a lot of more integration features that'll be involved, just to make, you know, streamline some of that workflow. Between everybody. Yeah. Absolutely. So I rec I really recommend that you, if you do not have a educator account at Canva, go ahead and get signed up for that. But for right now, I'm gonna kind of walk you through, how to use the Canva integration with Lumio. I saw a question from Diane, and gonna really quickly address it. So one of the questions was, how can I run more than one lesson, Lumio lesson for my students? So one of the neat things here is if I click on these three dots and I click on share link, I can get a student share link So this student share link can be shared on any learning management system. It can be shared on a website. It can be shared anywhere you would put a link for students. You can have it as a QR code. What have you? But this allows you to choose different lessons for different students to do. So, for example, if I'm using Lumio in my centers, I might have a QR code to a particular activity for, let's say, my, phonics center versus a different one for my writing center. So my students can click on either through their LMS or they can scan a QR code with their iPads or Chromebooks or what have you and get access to that direct activity and get going and work independently. So that's just a quick aside okay. So I have I'm signed into my Lumi account. This is what called my library. So this is all of my stuff. We also have something called the Lumio Library, which is a bunch of free content created by teachers for teachers that you can also take from this bookshelf. So if I really like this digital student planner, I can save it to my library, and it will land here, and then I can use the whole activity or bits and pieces which is really cool. But what I wanna highlight today is the Canva and the new Canva application. So I'm gonna pop over to my Canva webinar. My, slideshow that I made earlier. So these slides will look familiar to you. So you'll see here's that background where we did the drag and drop activity with the Canva and Lumio Locos. Here's the one where I added that infinitely clone check mark. Here's that then diagram, and here's actually a background that I created for that shout it out. So I actually saved this as an image to customize my shout it out. Background as well. I love that with Lumio and with a Canva, I can choose how I want to download these different pages. So let's talk about how to use this new export from within Lumio. So in Canva, what are the things that's so amazing is that they have a variety of app that are connect that you can use and connect with your Canva account. So on my left side over here, I'm gonna click on the apps button. And you can actually search for LumiO. Now I already have LumiO added to my Canva apps, but if you don't, you would add it now. We have a very quick helpful video on how to do that, and Holly's going to pop a link to that video into the chat so you have access to it. It is also in our, YouTube channel. If you search Limeo social, you will find all our all of our YouTube videos. But, Holly actually created this great YouTube video for step by step instructions on how to add Wimeo as an app. So for me, I already have it added as an app. So what I would do is I would click on my app. And I want to export my designs to Lumio. So just like always down here, I can choose which pages I want to, send to LumiO. I don't want to send the page for the page we're looking at right now. Because I will actually am planning on using that as a background. So I'm gonna save it as a JPEG later. So I'm just going to export those first three pages. And so once I have the ones I want, I'm gonna hit done, and I'm going to choose export. So you're gonna see that it's going to go through the process of porting, and you have two options here. One, I can copy this link in here and open a new tab, and that will take me do my Lumio account and I will see that new lesson already added. But I can also just go back to. So if I already have my Lumio account open, I can just come right back here. I can even refresh my page, and it's going to be visible here. So you don't have to do that copy and paste link because it will take you there. Oops, confused because I've opened multiple lessons. You can just go back to your main page here, which is pretty neat. Any questions, Holly that have come in that we should address before I talk about how to then customize your your, Canva content inside of Lumio? Well, one question that was a a little bit ago, from Melissa was when we in import a PowerPoint into LumiO. If you have I animation in your PowerPoint, does your animation still work at LumiO? So animations do not work currently. And when you export from Canva, it is coming right now as a, as a flattened page. That will that can be adjusted in the future. But one of the things that I will show you really quickly, because there are some options. And I will also speak, because I know we have several people joining us from Europe today, not from North America. So I wanna address something in regards to that and and our Canva work as well. So one of the things you'll notice when I'm in LumiO and I choose import, I have the ability to add editable PowerPoint So that means that, when I take that PowerPoint and import it, I can change text. I can move things around. Everything's coming in as a movable object. So if you are going to wanna make some adjustments or something it does have some movable components for you from that, you will want to instead of pulling this in as a using that Lumio, app, you will want to choose share, and you will want to choose more And I would recommend actually saving that as a PowerPoint and then importing it to Lumio because that will give you those movable pieces. And then while we're here, if you are using in Lumio, the European server, so meaning that you're not in North America, then And that, LumiO app is not going to work for you yet. We are working on getting it for, all everyone global, around the globe. But for now, if you you can still use the amazingness that Canva is, but what you would wanna do instead is you would want to choose to download as a PDF and import it, or you can do that same thing more in PowerPoint. And because LumiO allows us to import, powerpoints, import anything from our computer. So any any of our pdfs, powerpoints, if you use notebook files, any of those, we can support. And also for our Google users, you can also import Google slides and other things that are saved into your Google Drive as well. And then, of course, you can reuse resources that are already in your Lumina Library or that you've saved from, that from the Lumio Library or that you've used in your own library so we can mix and match some things. So that's something to think about as well. Holly, any other questions before we talk about how to then customize what you've brought over from Canva? Nope. I think that's everything. Alright. So I have taken I've used that that Lumio export option from Canva, and so now here it is inside of my library. So I'm gonna choose to edit. I just hover over to edit. And that's going to take me into editing mode. You'll know you're in editing mode because it'll say it'll have a blue bar across the top, it'll say untitled lesson from Canvas. So I wanna first change that, especially because mine works with my, mine saves also into my Google Drive. So I wanna to be easy to find and uncitled is not easy to find there. Alright. So now we're gonna talk about how you can then customize or layer things into your Canva designs. So here we are I have this main page where I added that, Canva icon and that Limeo icon. So up above any page you import, If you click on the, heart circle plus picture, that allows you to add shapes and lines. So you saw I had that, that arrow that pointing at the directions. I can of course adjust that. So you can make all of those changes that you want. I can also click on the image icon here, and I can either search for images with a being safe search or I can select images that that I already have saved. Let's see, download. Let's see if I can find if I have those stickers over here. I can't remember if it was this one. We'll just grab these two really quickly. I'm gonna add these two icons. And I can just put them on my page where I want them. And what's neat is you'll remember that these were infinitely cloned, meaning that I you never ran out of them. There was enough for everyone to, drag and drop. So it's very easy to infinitely clone any object, whether it's text, whether it's a picture like I've added here, you click on the object, click the down arrow, and one of your options is infinite cloner. So I'm gonna do that for both of these. I'm gonna actually lock this arrow so students can't move it. And then, of course, I can use that text you add directions, drag an icon down to show where you are on your journey. So it's very simple to customize any content here. And again, I can lock this down as well. And then you'll notice in the top right corner, there's some additional tools that you can use. So you saw me convert this page on the fly in real time right in front of you, which I often do, especially when I'm working with students, because they have a tendency to do before listening to this to instructions. Although, as teachers, we can do that too. Great. So I can click this magic wand and convert to an individual handout, a group workspace or a whole class whiteboard ahead of time. Like I said, I usually do it live, but you can do it either way. And then you can also add instructional audio if you wanted as well for each of your pages. So very quick and easy for me to pull in and add anything to any of these pages. So I could add that check mark really quickly. Me go back over to my shapes, and here's a quick check mark I could grab and drag it over here. And same thing, infinitely clone it. This page was something I would have my students do as a group workspace. I'll convert that really quickly. Now I wanted to, with our last few minutes, show you how then you can layer in some of the additional features that Lumio has to offer. So if I click this blue plus button, down in the bottom left corner, it's going to pull up a dashboard that allows me to do a lot of different things. So I could import additional pages if I had a PDF an article I want my kids to read, for example, or something in my Google Drive, I could import additional things. I can search the Lumio Library for content. I could add ad for YouTube videos, do desmos graphing calculators, add some great vet simulations to get kids really working with science concepts, so built building molecules, working with perimeter an area, those types of things. And then we have some additional rate template. So that shouted out that we where you're talking about one way that we will, manage stress this week that was created here. We have some ready made graphic organizers and manipulatives that we can pull in for students to use as well. And, of course, some question reflections exit tickets, entrance tickets, those types of things that you can pull in. But I wanted to need a quick moment to look at our game based activities. So we have different twelve different game based templates, but I want you to really think creatively about how you use these activities. So if you click this, a graduation cap, every graduation cap within LumiO gives you, tips and tips tips and tricks on how to use them. If I click on it, this fill in the blank, for example, some of my kindergarten teachers often think, oh, this game can't be. For me, look at all those words. I'd be really hard for my beginning kindergartner But remember, you put the content in. So I could have letters and have letters met and the alphabet and have letters missing. I could use this as a math teacher, an algebra math teacher actually use this set up, to create a the steps of a problem and had different parts of the problem missing that kids had to organize. So you can be really creative with how you use these different activities. Flip out digital flashcards. I use these as a quick choice board or to have clues to introduce the new topic. So you can be really have a lot of fun with these activities. Rank order was the one that I modeled for you guys today. It was created to do things like lightest to heaviest, least to greatest, ABC order those types of things. But I love that with this activity, we can choose to make it an opinion based activity. So don't check. There's no right or wrong answers. And that's what I did. It's a great way to get students talking. You can add text or images. So you saw on mine. I used images but I could also use text as well. It's very quick and easy for us to make so I could do read, listen to music, Oops. Not mute. Let's say music. Oops. Let's try that again. Listen to music. We'll do one more just to highlight, dance party. Right? Who doesn't like to do that to strat? And then most often, and least often for my ranking labels. You could also do which care which character showed the most most change throughout a novel. You could do which events were most, most, mostly led to the US. Participating in world war two. There's so many ways that you can use this for content areas. You hit next. You have a variety of different backgrounds you can choose from. And then you just hit finish and just like that, you've created a game that your students can participate in. So just as a reminder, I created some of those act two days, those graphic organizers in Canada, I exported them using the LumiO app and brought them into LumiA where I could then layer in some of these additional features like infinitely cloned objects, games, And then, and then convert those activities to different types of activities individual handouts, group workspaces, and whatnot. And here is that math and chem editor if you need that as well. I know that came up earlier, so if you needed to use that as a math feature. Any questions, Holly as we get ready to close things up today? Sorry about that. We have a a mystery from, Nicole in Quebec that I'm working to help herself about. Why she can't see the Lumio app in Canva, but we are we're getting we're gonna get that figured out. Too. So I'm trying to help out as well. Okay. But other than that, I don't believe there's any other questions unless anyone else has other questions to put in the chat that we haven't addressed yet? If you do go ahead and throw them in that chat, but I wanna make sure I respect the time that you have. So if you do have questions, put them in the chat so we can address them. We'd love to do that. If you fill out this quick survey, Holly will put a link in the chat as well. It's a just a few questions that will allow you to then get a link that you can paste in a new tab, and that will give you a certificate for joining us today. You will also, you will also get, a recording of today's webinar along with any resources that are, pertinent to it. In the next, couple of days, just depending on on the turnaround for that, getting that recording up and running. But again, use that link to make sure that you have access to the recording. All of our webinars are also found on our YouTube channel as well. But I know it helps to to get that email coming back to you. And then I wanted to make sure that we shared some resources. I know I saw a lot of great questions coming for Manuel about Canva. So Manuel, you wanna talk really quickly about the Canva resources, maybe drop a link that will help them access this as well? Yeah. Just a quick reminder, you can definitely, go to canva dot com forward slash education. If you're interested in signing up, I'm gonna throw that into the chat. And then if but if you're already using Canva for education, I'm gonna put a link to this slide here. That's a lot of our teacher resources. So these are tutorials, design playbooks, things that you can use to get started with Canva, even get your students learning how to use Canva, kinda take some of the pressure off of you. And then some other additional resources. So I'll grab that link, and then I'll throw it into the chat as well. And I see Holly has also added a, a link to our resource page. Also, our learn Lomio website is really helpful. It has all the things you need. Here's access to that YouTube channel.
