A vertical cut is a separate variation when you also want to keep the original horizontal video. Specify the framing so the important action stays visible.
Before you start
Have the source video, intended destination and any caption or brand requirements. Decide whether you need the whole video or one short passage.
Steps
Step 1. Open the source in Media Studio and choose Request Variation.
Step 2. For the full video, choose Resize and Portrait 9:16 (1080×1920). For an excerpt, choose Social clip, set From and To, then choose the portrait Format.
Step 3. Use Preview clip for an excerpt and confirm the start/end make sense on their own. Enter times such as 01:12 to 01:48, within the source duration.
Step 4. Set Add captions, Intro and Outro as needed. Select the intended Brand Book or Saved Order under Style reference if a specific visual treatment is required.
Step 5. In Editor notes, describe the framing: for example, “Keep the speaker’s face and the valve in view; move the lower-third above the caption area.” Include any exact text corrections.
Step 6. Submit Request variation. Review the returned vertical version at phone size before approving or publishing it.
Check the result
The returned file should be portrait 9:16 with readable text and intentional cropping. Check that logos, gestures, demonstrations and captions are not cut off.
If something does not work
Several speakers cannot fit the same crop: identify the active speaker or ask for a considered reframing treatment in Editor notes.
The timing is wrong: specify the desired source time range rather than only saying “make it shorter.”
A new platform also needs a square version: create another variation instead of changing the vertical brief ambiguously.
