I wanted to walk you through getting a project started. So I'm gonna kinda use the fun dog video as an example. And for that, you'll start with an upload. You'll fill out this form, give it a title, upload your content, and then you'll wanna add it to a folder. That's gonna help you keep things organized. You can have your own folder, or you can do project based folders. So you just pull this up, and if the folder already exists, you can click on it, or you can start typing and then hit enter, and it'll create a new folder for you. You would be automatically selected as the approver, and that's fine for something like this, and then start upload. Once it finishes uploading, if you marked yourself as the approver, you can go ahead and do that step right away. So you'll hit approve. And then from there, it will show up in the feed. But if you're ready to do the edit request, you can go straight into Media Studio. Hit the request edit now, and then just go through this form. So you are required to select a brand book. So if you don't need any branding on it because it's just kind of a fun internal video, you can select a brand book, but then just specify with the editor. So we'll just do Courser and then just go through. So we could just say this is a culture one because it's for fun internal, landscape, internal. And then these three fields are really the most important ones. So this is providing the context, the instruction, the vision, all of that for your video. So I'll type some stuff in here and then be right back. Okay. So just a little example of what you can include in these. Start with a fun intro that includes a sun for the summer, meet the Raider pups. I'm just making this up, obviously, but this is the kind of stuff that you'll wanna include. Include a voice over here. And then in the center, please use all the photos and names indicated on each photo. Fun music, fun transition, fun effects are welcome. There's a hundred character min This is just to make sure that we get plenty of info from you. But if you are having trouble needing that because it's a very simple video, I just can copy and paste until I reach there. You know, don't do this too often. We wanna make sure that we get the right info from you, but we understand that sometimes it's a a very simple ending. Then if you needed any b roll, you can do that here. Then you choose a vibe, and then custom. If you needed a certain time, you can choose one. I usually say custom as needed. And then if you have an example from a past video or something you've seen on YouTube, that's always helpful. And then you would just hit let's create. It'll go into editing. The last thing I wanna show you piece of the content. So let's say you had ten dog photos uploaded. They would all be along along the top as thumbnails. And like I kinda said in the directions, you can put the name of dog in the comments under each one. So you kinda click on the next one and submit a comment for that one. And that way, you can have editing direction associated with each piece of content. Thanks.

Overview

This 3-minute training video with Sarah Houder covers the end-to-end process of getting content into MarketScale Studio and moving it toward post-production. Sarah demonstrates how to upload project files, organize them into folders, approve assets for editing, and submit a complete edit request — including how to leave per-clip instructions using timestamped comments. The walkthrough is designed for contributors who are new to the platform and want a clear, repeatable process for submitting production-ready projects.

What Is This?

A project upload in MarketScale Studio is the process of bringing raw or source content into the platform so it can be organized, reviewed, and handed off to the production team through a formal edit request. An edit request is the structured submission that communicates exactly what you need produced, including timelines, creative direction, and clip-level notes.

What You'll Learn

  • Upload source files and raw content directly into MarketScale Studio
  • Organize uploaded assets into clearly labeled folders for easier review
  • Approve content so it is marked ready for the production workflow
  • Build and submit a complete edit request from within the platform
  • Add timestamped comments to individual clips to communicate precise editing direction
  • Understand how folder structure and asset approval affect production handoff

Key Insights

  • Folder organization before submission reduces back-and-forth with the production team and keeps projects moving efficiently
  • Approving assets inside Studio is a required step that signals content is ready — skipping it can delay your edit request
  • Timestamped comments on individual clips replace the need for separate documents or emails to communicate editing direction
  • A well-structured edit request gives the production team everything they need without a follow-up call, which shortens turnaround time

Deep Dive

Uploading content to MarketScale Studio is the first step in any production workflow, and doing it correctly sets the tone for a smooth post-production process. When files are uploaded without context or structure, production teams lose time interpreting intent. This training establishes a clear pattern: upload, organize, approve, then submit — in that order.

Folder organization is more than housekeeping. When multiple clips, B-roll segments, or supporting assets are part of a single project, grouping them logically inside Studio allows reviewers and editors to navigate content without confusion. Clear folder labels that reflect shoot dates, locations, or content type make it immediately obvious what each asset is and where it fits in the final deliverable.

The approval step is often overlooked by new contributors, but it carries real operational weight. Marking assets as approved inside Studio communicates to the production team that you have reviewed the content and it is ready to move forward. Unapproved assets can stall a project in the queue, so understanding this step removes a common point of friction.

Timestamped comments are one of the most practical tools available when submitting an edit request. Rather than writing a separate brief or trying to describe a moment by describing what happens on screen, contributors can drop a comment directly at the relevant point in a clip. This means editors receive precise, actionable direction tied to the exact frame you are referencing — reducing misinterpretation and revision cycles. Combined with a complete edit request, these comments give the production team a thorough creative brief embedded directly in the project itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

What file types can I upload to MarketScale Studio?

MarketScale Studio supports the most common video and audio file formats used in professional production workflows. If you are unsure whether your file type is supported, the platform will notify you at the point of upload. Reaching out to your MarketScale contact before uploading non-standard formats is a good practice for larger projects.

Do I need to approve every asset before submitting an edit request?

Yes, approving assets is a required part of the workflow before a complete edit request can move into the production queue. Approval signals that you have reviewed the content and confirmed it meets the quality and relevance criteria for your project. Assets left in an unapproved state may delay your submission or require a follow-up from the production team.

Can I add editing direction after I have already submitted an edit request?

Timestamped comments can typically be added to clips during the review phase before final submission, and your MarketScale contact can advise on whether additions are possible after a request has been submitted. To avoid delays, it is best practice to complete all per-clip comments before finalizing your edit request. Clear upfront direction reduces the likelihood of revisions later in the process.

Once you are comfortable with project uploads and edit requests, exploring how to navigate the broader Studio dashboard will help you manage multiple projects and track production status efficiently. Contributors may also benefit from learning how review and approval workflows function for published content, as well as how to interpret delivery notifications once an edit is complete and ready for review.
