How Hotel Managers Can Avoid Mistakes When Purchasing Furniture

The hotel industry is fast-paced, trendy, and growing. Staying ahead of the game is a daunting task, but new hotels can lead the pack with innovative design and comfortable furniture. Michael Shapiro, the president of furniture manufacturing company Jay Edward Group, says furniture buyers can save time and money by following some simple advice.

  1. Know Your Manufacturer. Where is your furniture being made, and where is it coming from? Don’t be afraid to do your research and ask big questions such as “What projects have you completed recently?” And ask to see proof.
  2. Track the Progress. Once the order is made, follow up. It’s a good idea to have one point of contact, he says, to reduce the stress of hunting down answers should a problem arise.
  3. Pay Attention to Packaging. Making sure your items arrive in one piece is important, but buyers can save time by giving vendors detailed labeling instructions, as well. Improperly labeled packages can eat away at installation time and throw off a well-organized timeline.

Shapiro stresses that building a relationship with furniture vendors is as important as the relationship with your customers. For more information, and to read the original article, click here
