I would tell anyone interested in hospitality design to enter the dirk and discover competition. And it is a great portfolio piece. You get to really understand a little bit more about the carpet process and, you know, how in-depth designs need to be or how in-depth you want them to be. And beyond that, it's a great piece for a portfolio to present other company or if you're interested in the product design of interiors, DURkin discovers a definitely competition manager. I'm Meg Turner. I graduated from Utah State University in twenty seventeen, I placed twice in the Dirk and Discover competition once in twenty sixteen and as the Grand Price winner in twenty seventeen. Placing in the Dirk and Discover competition ended up having a huge impact on my career. I was offered the opportunity to design a collection for Durkin shortly after winning and that collection came out January twenty nineteen. Called symbiotic. And within a year of that offer, I was also offered the opportunity to work as field designer for Durken covering Chicago in the mid so for the last two and a half years, my job has been working with Durgan. If you decide to enter the competition, have fun with it. Do research, go and look at existing carpet design, try to understand a little bit of the process and that'll help your creativity expand even more.
