The American Society of Civil Engineers gave a current report card for America’s roadways. The U.S. didn’t fare well as it showed that the roads are crumbling at a consistent rate. The report gave the U.S. a C overall but a D in transit, citing an aging system and lack of funding to improve it. The information laid out ways to get the roads running smoothly. One of the main things is to get long-term, consistent investment.

Voice of B2B, Daniel Litwin hosted David Powell, Vice President of Moving and Relocation at Montway Auto Transport, on MarketScale TV to discuss how the crumbling infrastructure impacts Montway and its customers. Montway is a national auto transport company that serves businesses and individuals coast to coast.

Powell said the report is pretty accurate. If a driver is going down the road, they can tell our system needs improvement. One of the main pieces of feedback Montway gets is about issues on the road and congestion, which causes problems with the supply chain.

“I think one of the biggest things it does is cause congestion, so you get delays,” Powell said. “If you think about it if you’re a person moving from Chicago to Kansas City and you want your car to be there at a certain time. We have to call you up and say, ‘Hey, there was a delay, and by the way, they hit congestion in St. Louis. Instead of 1 to 3 p.m., it’s now 3 to 5 p.m.’”
