How to Launch Event Quick-Turnaround Editing

Sarah Houder walks through the operational steps for turning event content around quickly using MarketScale's editing queue and pre-built order templates.

Transcript

Hi. I wanted to talk about how to get your event content turned around quickly in our editing queue. So the first thing you wanna do is to upload your clips immediately. Don't wait until the end of the day to get everything uploaded. The smaller batches do make upload faster, and then we have the content immediately, and we can help you get it into the queue quickly. So then the next thing I will show you real quick on my screen is a few pointers with your edit request. So if you work with your rep before the event to get a template saved, your editing will go much quicker as well for you. You'll have less to fill out. So you can save order with your event template, and that way we have, a quick intro if you want it. We have the lower thirds worked out. We have any music or call to action at the end worked out. So none of that has to be described when you're trying to get these things in quickly. So choose a saved order if you have that available. And then down here in notes and files, you can give us a a quick note that this is a priority net edit. Need ASAP. And then you'll wanna make sure to indicate your lower thirds and other information needed for the edit. Then that's all you gotta do. You hit let's create. It goes into editing, and let your rep know, and they will keep an eye on it for you. And you wanna plan for one video out per event day. So, a good thing to do is first thing in the morning, you can get some sound bites from your team, or as speakers come off the stage, you get a quick sound bite from them there. Upload it, click that saved order into editing, you'll have it back end of day, next day. We're able to prioritize these edits for you. The the biggest mistake that you would make is waiting until the event is over to upload everything at once. That doesn't do you as much good to get yourself out there through the noise of the event and get engagement with your content.

Overview

In this 2-minute training, Sarah Houder explains how to operationalize fast event video turnaround using MarketScale's editing workflow. She covers the importance of uploading content in small batches throughout the day, setting up a saved order template before the event begins, and using priority notes to move requests through the queue efficiently. The goal is to have polished, branded video content ready to publish the same day or by the following morning.

What Is This?

Event quick-turnaround editing is the practice of structuring your content capture and submission workflow so that raw event footage is edited and returned as finished video within 24 hours or less, preserving the timeliness and relevance of live event moments.

What You'll Learn

  • Understand why uploading clips in small batches throughout the event is more effective than end-of-day bulk uploads
  • Learn how to work with your MarketScale rep before an event to create and save a reusable order template
  • Discover which elements to pre-configure in your template, including intros, lower thirds, music, and calls-to-action
  • Apply the saved order to reduce the time and detail required when submitting each edit request
  • Use the notes field to mark requests as priority and communicate turnaround expectations
  • Plan a realistic one-video-per-event-day cadence that aligns with capture timing and editing capacity

Key Insights

  • Uploading immediately after capturing a soundbite—rather than waiting until the end of the day—gives the editing queue more lead time and increases the likelihood of same-day delivery.
  • A saved order template with your branding elements already configured removes repetitive decision-making from every submission, reducing friction and errors.
  • Marking an edit request as priority in the notes field signals urgency to the editing team without requiring a separate communication.
  • Event content has a short relevance window—video published while an event is still in progress or within 24 hours generates significantly more engagement than delayed posts.

Deep Dive

Live events create a concentrated window of content opportunity, but that window closes quickly. Audiences engaging with event coverage expect real-time or near-real-time updates. Waiting until the end of a conference day to upload footage collapses your turnaround options and often pushes delivery into the following day or later. Sarah Houder's approach shifts the workflow earlier and distributes the load across the day.

The foundation of this strategy is preparation before the event begins. Working with your MarketScale rep to create a saved order template means your brand's intro, lower thirds, music selection, and call-to-action are already locked in. When you go to submit an edit request on-site, you are not rebuilding those specifications from scratch. You select the saved order, add your clip, note it as priority, and submit. That simplicity matters when you are managing logistics in a busy event environment.

Capture timing also plays a central role. Houder recommends targeting soundbites first thing in the morning or immediately after a speaker finishes, then uploading right away. This gives the editing team the maximum available time to complete the video while you continue capturing additional content. Thinking in terms of one finished video per event day keeps the goal realistic and the workflow sustainable.

The underlying principle is that distribution value is tied to timing. A well-edited event video posted three days after the event competes poorly with real-time social content and news coverage. The same video published same-day positions your brand as an active, present voice in the industry conversation. The operational steps Houder outlines exist to protect that timing advantage.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should be included in a saved order template for event editing?

A saved order template should pre-configure the elements that remain consistent across your event videos, including your branded intro, lower thirds with speaker name and title formatting, background music selection, and your preferred call-to-action. Setting these up with your MarketScale rep before the event means you only need to attach the new clip and submit when you are on-site.

How do I flag an edit request as priority in MarketScale's system?

You can indicate priority by noting it clearly in the notes field when submitting your edit request. Houder recommends being explicit in that field so the editing team understands the turnaround expectation. Combining a priority note with an early upload gives your request the best chance of same-day completion.

Is one video per event day a firm limit or just a recommendation?

It is a practical planning benchmark rather than a hard rule. Targeting one polished video per event day keeps expectations realistic and ensures each piece of content gets the attention it needs for a quality edit. If you are capturing multiple strong soundbites, you can discuss a higher volume cadence with your MarketScale rep ahead of the event.
