What to Do When Your Feedback Went to the Wrong Place
Leaving feedback in the wrong place means your editor never sees it. This training shows exactly where and how to submit revision requests in Media Studio.
Transcript
Hey, I wanted to take a moment here and talk about what to do when the feedback on your video went to the wrong place. So occasionally, we'll have someone new in Studio and not exactly sure where to place the content. And they will see the video in Studio, and they'll see the comment section below the video. What this really is meant for is to add comments where you can converse back and forth with your team on your end. But anything that's sent in this comment section does not reach the end editor if you actually have feedback and changes, for the video. To do that, you actually want to go into the media studio, and you'll be able to watch the video time stamped manner there. And let's say we wanted to, you know, update the lower third color to blue in my brand book. So there's there's an example of a way to time code your content and your feedback, all along the way. Let's say, on the back end, use different outro. So all along the way, you've time coded your comment, your feedback, and it will build that timeline along the right hand side. Once you have everything in place, that's when you then need to hit the button that says request revisions in the upper right hand corner. At this time, you also wanna make sure anyone else on your team has viewed the video and you've collected all the feedback at once so that this next version has everything implemented in the next video so that you can then download it and start using it on your channels. But as you can see, when we hit the button request revision, it will say, are you sure you wanna proceed? Yes. You then give it a rating anywhere from a one to five stars. So let's say, you know, here I wanted to change the color of my branding. So I have something new to add. I'll give it a four out of five stars. And when I hit the button request revision, it will actually go back into the editing queue in our system. The editor who worked on the piece will get notified. They will pick it up, make those changes, all changes that they could, and upload a new version to be QC'd by the market scale team before it gets sent back over to you. If there's any questions along the way, the editor will send comments and comment the person who submitted in the proofing room itself to get clarification on what you're looking for. So that's really how to get your comments in the right spot so that you can get your content turned more quickly so that it can also make an impact, on your channels. Thanks, everyone.
Overview
In this 3-minute training, MarketScale contributor Matt Moss walks through one of the most common workflow mistakes on the platform: submitting edit feedback in the comment section below a video rather than in the proofing room. Matt explains where feedback actually needs to go, how to use timestamped comments in Media Studio, and how to properly submit a revision request so the editing team receives and acts on your notes.
What Is This?
Submitting edit feedback correctly means using the proofing room inside MarketScale Media Studio to leave time-coded comments that are routed directly to the editing team — not the general comment section, which remains internal to your organization only.
What You'll Learn
- Identify why comments left below a video never reach the editing team
- Navigate to the proofing room inside MarketScale Media Studio
- Add timestamped, time-coded feedback tied to specific moments in the video
- Consolidate all team input before submitting a revision request
- Submit feedback using the 'Request Revisions' button with a star rating
- Understand what happens after a revision request is sent to the editor's queue
Key Insights
- Comments left in the section below a video are internal only — the editing team cannot see them and will never act on them.
- The proofing room in Media Studio is the only place where feedback is routed to your editor, and every comment should reference a specific timestamp.
- All team members should review and align on feedback before a revision request is submitted, because the goal is to capture everything in a single round.
- Once 'Request Revisions' is clicked with a star rating, the video re-enters the editor's queue, goes through MarketScale QC, and is returned with all requested changes applied.
Deep Dive
One of the most frequent friction points in the MarketScale content workflow is misplaced feedback. When a video is delivered for review, it is natural to scroll to the comment section and begin typing notes. The problem is that those comments are scoped to your internal team — they function like a private message board and have no connection to the editing workflow. The editing team works entirely within a separate queue and will never see anything left in that area.
The correct path starts inside Media Studio. From there, open the video in the proofing room and watch it with the timestamped playback interface active. As you identify changes — a lower-third color that needs adjusting, a line of narration that should be trimmed, a graphic that appears at the wrong time — pause the video and add a comment directly tied to that moment. A note like 'at 0:15, change lower third color to blue' gives the editor precise, actionable direction without any ambiguity.
Before submitting, the responsibility falls on the client team to consolidate input. If multiple stakeholders are reviewing the video, all of their notes should be gathered and reconciled into a single, unified set of comments. Submitting feedback in stages creates delays and risks having some changes addressed while others are overlooked.
Once all comments are in place, clicking 'Request Revisions' and assigning a star rating sends the video back into the editor's active queue. The editor works through each note, the updated cut goes through MarketScale's internal quality control process, and the revised version is returned to the client. This structured loop is designed to ensure every piece of feedback is captured and addressed in one clean revision cycle.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why doesn't the editing team see the comments I leave below the video?
The comment section below a video in MarketScale is scoped to your internal team only and is not connected to the editing workflow. Editors work from a separate queue and only receive feedback that is submitted through the proofing room using the 'Request Revisions' function.
How do I add timestamped feedback in the Media Studio proofing room?
Open the video in Media Studio and use the timestamped playback interface to watch the content. When you reach a moment that needs a change, pause the video and add a comment at that point — the system ties your note to the exact timecode, giving the editor a precise reference for each requested revision.
Should I submit feedback as soon as I have it, or wait for my full team to review?
You should wait until all relevant team members have reviewed the video and consolidated their input before submitting a revision request. Submitting everything at once ensures the editor can address all changes in a single round, reducing back-and-forth and turnaround time.
