Hey, everyone. Elena Green here, team lead here at MarketScale. Just wanted to pop in for a quick micro lesson all about organizing your team based content in Studio. Today we're going to go over a couple of ways that you can organize your channel. We're going to look at my media, we're going look at channel media, groups, folders, and finally the asset library. So let's hop into Studio and let's show you around. So when you log into Studio, this is going to be your home page. And again, couple of ways that we are going to look at organization within your channel. The first one here is my media. So this is everything in my channel market scale that I have recorded or upload. What a lovely little caption we have there with my eyes closed so I can quickly scroll through and see everything that I have done here in my channel. Then we can hop on over to channel media. That's going to be everything that everyone in the market scale channel or your client channel has created. So we have some videos from John. We have some from Leah. We have, again, mine. So it's gonna be anyone within your organization, your channel, any content that they're creating, the recording rooms they're making, the uploads, everything is going to live in channel media. And then you have groups. So a great way to organize your channel especially if maybe you have a large group of people from your sales department, your marketing department, HR, product, engineering, know that's a lot of different people within this channel and so we want to make it easier for you to organize all of that content. Groups is something that you can set up here and see the different ones. You could create again a sales group, an HR group, a marketing group, anything here and then they are uploading it they would be assigned a group basically. You as the admin could edit the settings and choose a group for that video to live in. Another great way to keep things organized is going to be folders. So whenever you are uploading a video, you can add that video to a folder and think of this less as a physical folder and more of hashtags. So you can add multiple ones. Let's say we want to make this John's micro lessons and also have it be quick tips. So have multiple folders that this video can live in. I'm going to use one of mine as an example. So I'm going to write Elena and create a folder called Elena. And then we're going to head into folders up here in the right hand corner. And because my name starts with an a, we're going to see it right up here at the top, but you could also search it and it would pop up. And then if you hop into that folder, you will see all of the content that I've created. Right now, I think it's just gonna be that one video for this channel, but, it will, you know, make it really easy when you're organizing things. And you can see all of the folders we have here. So, maybe let's pop into Leah request feature. And, again, you'll see multiple ones that she's done here. So, that summarizes really channel organization. Right? Just to recap, we have my media, channel media, groups, and folders. Another feature that we've recently launched is going to be the asset library up here at the left hand corner. So if you click into that, you will see a gallery of finished videos. So what is the asset library? It's exactly what I just said, a finished content gallery. So this is curated and shareable playlist of approved videos. You could add some PDFs or brochures for example, say your sales department is creating a lot of content, maybe some FAQs or anything like that and they want to attach, you know, they want to create basically an area for all of those videos to live and then they also want to attach a sales deck or a pdf for them to easily use. As a reminder, this is not an area to upload raw assets that you want to be edited. This is only for completed content. So think of it as, again, of a, dam or DAM to help those videos have a place to live.
Overview
This training video, led by Alanna Greene, walks through the four primary content organization tools available in Studio: My Media, Channel Media, Groups, and Folders. It also covers the Asset Library as a distinct destination for finished, approved content. In just over five minutes, viewers gain a clear understanding of how each tool functions and when to use it.
What Is This?
Content organization in Studio refers to the structured set of tools that allow individuals and teams to upload, categorize, filter, and share video assets across a channel — ensuring the right people can find and use the right content at the right time.
What You'll Learn
- Distinguish between My Media and Channel Media and understand what each view displays
- Create and assign Groups to organize content by department such as sales, marketing, HR, or product
- Apply Folders to individual videos as flexible, hashtag-style labels that support multi-folder assignment
- Filter and surface content efficiently using Folders across large channel libraries
- Understand the purpose of the Asset Library as a curated gallery of approved, shareable playlists
- Avoid common mistakes such as uploading raw content directly to the Asset Library
Key Insights
- My Media shows only your own uploads and recordings, while Channel Media provides a full view of all content across every contributor on the channel.
- Groups function as department-level containers — a clean way to segment content by team ownership without affecting how videos are tagged or filtered.
- Folders behave like hashtags: a single video can belong to multiple folders simultaneously, making filtering fast and flexible across large libraries.
- The Asset Library is a finished-content destination — it surfaces curated, shareable playlists of approved videos and is not intended as a place to upload raw media.
Deep Dive
Studio's content organization system is built around four distinct tools, each serving a specific purpose in a team-based content workflow. Understanding the difference between them prevents disorganization and ensures contributors, managers, and stakeholders are all working from the right view.
My Media and Channel Media represent two levels of visibility. My Media is scoped to the individual — it displays only the videos you have personally uploaded or recorded. Channel Media broadens that view to include all content across every contributor on the channel, making it the go-to view for channel administrators and content managers who need full oversight.
Groups and Folders add a layer of organizational structure on top of that content. Groups are designed for department-level segmentation. If your organization runs separate content initiatives across sales, marketing, HR, and product, each team can have its own Group, keeping ownership clear and navigation straightforward. Folders, by contrast, operate more like hashtags than containers. A single video can be assigned to multiple Folders at once, which means the same piece of content can appear under a product demo Folder, a Q3 campaign Folder, and a training resource Folder simultaneously. This flexibility makes Folders particularly powerful for filtering and discovery across large channel libraries.
Finally, the Asset Library serves a fundamentally different function from the other tools. It is not an upload destination. Instead, it acts as a curated gallery of finished, approved content — organized into shareable playlists that stakeholders can access and distribute. Treating the Asset Library as a polished storefront rather than a raw storage location keeps it useful and credible for downstream audiences.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between My Media and Channel Media in Studio?
My Media displays only the videos you have personally uploaded or recorded within Studio. Channel Media expands that view to show all content contributed by every user on the channel, giving administrators and content managers a complete picture of available assets.
Can a single video be added to more than one Folder?
Yes. Folders in Studio work like hashtags, meaning a single video can be assigned to multiple Folders at the same time. This makes it easy to surface the same piece of content across different filtering contexts without duplicating the asset.
What should I use the Asset Library for, and what should I avoid?
The Asset Library is intended for finished, approved content organized into curated playlists that can be shared with stakeholders or audiences. It is not a raw upload destination — uploading unreviewed or in-progress content there undermines its value as a polished, trustworthy content gallery.
