(upbeat music) - Hi, I'm Jim Huscroft. I'm the President of Gates Concrete Forming Systems, and we are here at the World of Concrete, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada. And we're excited to show off all of our forming systems. One of our premier systems is the Cam-Lock Forming System. This system is quick and easy to use. The good things about it is that we're using less lumber, less nailing. So your raw materials are less. The amount of labor you have to put into it is less. And the exceptional finish you get from the system is probably one of its most important features because at the end of the day, you want to provide a finished concrete wall that looks great. What's great about our Cam-Lock System is it employs a few main components. A lot of them are readily available in any state. We've got three quarters inch plywood. We're actually showing high density overlay plywood here, but you can use anything. Two by four lumber, our Cam-Lock lock, the Cam-Lock loop and tie, and the stiff-back clamp. Put all those ingredients together and you have a great recipe for forming that's easy to adapt as you go. So with the Cam Lock, if you are used to using a button-head type tie which employs a wedge or a swinging wedge, the difference with the Cam-Lock system is you have this loop end to each tie. The loop end engages with the claw of this lock, as you can see here, and the difference here is that obviously you have two by fours as your whaler to provide a straight wall. You are also gonna use two by fours to provide the stiff back, which gives you a vertically plumb wall. What's awesome about the Cam-Lock system is that you do not need long and short end ties. Some of the other things that are really good, as you can see here we have one side of a Cam-Lock wall. As you go to strip your plywood from this finished concrete you'll notice that, again, there's only one end of the tie. It's a short loop that this claw engages. And when you to take that plywood off, you don't have as many extensions coming out of the wall. One of the key features of the Cam-Lock system is the self centering cone of this tie. So everywhere you have a 13, 16 hole drilled into your plywood, that self centering cone is going to go into that hole and provide a nice tight seal around on the plywood. When you have your vertical stiff backs, you only have one piece of lumber, you're not having to nail anything together, everything sits in here loose. You put it together quickly, and it comes apart quickly. (upbeat music) When I say that the Cam-Lock system uses less lumber, a lot of it happens here on the stiff back member. So basically everywhere you have a Cam-Lock bracket you'll be able to place using one of our stiff back clamps, a vertical member. So in other ways of light-duty handset forming you'll need a tie that was pre-positioned here at a certain length in order to put a wedge to hold the stiff backs in place. With the Gates system there's only one stiff back, and you can put them anywhere on the wall at any point during the setup. So we're reducing labor, we're reducing raw materials. (upbeat music)
