Cost per print matters over time, since paper and cartridges are an ongoing expense beyond the printer's upfront price. Durability is another factor — dye-sub paper holds up better to handling and moisture than standard ZINK paper. Battery life determines how many prints are possible per charge, which matters for travel or events. Paper size flexibility varies, with some printers locked to one format and others supporting multiple sizes, including standard 4x6 prints. Finally, the companion app itself shapes daily use, since a clunky or ad-heavy app can undercut an otherwise capable printer.

Letting inkjet prints fully dry before handling avoids smudging. For the printer itself, keeping the paper compartment closed when not in use limits dust exposure, and using the paper designed for that specific model matters, since paper and printer are often calibrated together.
