Industrial connectivity has shifted from IT convenience to operational survival imperative

Horn argues that modern manufacturing systems cannot remain fragmented—connectivity between plant floor and enterprise is no longer optional but foundational to competitive survival. He further contends that legacy hardware migrations and incremental tooling adoption are not obstacles to this transformation; they are the *only* realistic paths for facilities to achieve data-driven operations without operational rupture.
