Amritanshu Pandey

Amritanshu develop computational methods and models for electrical energy systems with a real-world impact. His focus areas are sustainable smart cities, renewable integration, electric mobility, grid reliability and resilience, cybersecurity, and energy equity. In the past, Amritanshu (with his colleagues) developed a novel circuit-theoretic simulation and optimization framework for power grids. The project culminated in a new grid analytics tool: Simulation of Unified Grid Analysis and Renewables (SUGAR), which has since been commercialized at Pearl Street Technologies, Inc.

Smart infrastructure simultaneously decarbonizes cities and improves safety outcomes

Pandey argues that smart city infrastructure—particularly AI-enabled connectivity layered across streetlights and building systems—delivers dual returns: measurable emissions reductions alongside public safety and community vitality gains. This integration proves that decarbonization need not be a tradeoff against livability; rather, technological infrastructure optimization serves both environmental and social objectives simultaneously.
