Amritanshu develop computational methods and models for electrical energy systems with a real-world impact. His focus areas are sustainable smart cities, renewable integration, electric mobility, grid reliability and resilience, cybersecurity, and energy equity. In the past, Amritanshu (with his colleagues) developed a novel circuit-theoretic simulation and optimization framework for power grids. The project culminated in a new grid analytics tool: Simulation of Unified Grid Analysis and Renewables (SUGAR), which has since been commercialized at Pearl Street Technologies, Inc.

Smart city infrastructure simultaneously decarbonizes urban spaces and improves safety

Pandey argues that smart city technologies—particularly AI-enabled infrastructure and connected systems—deliver a dual mandate: reducing urban emissions while enhancing public safety and neighborhood vitality. This integration of decarbonization with community outcomes represents a fundamentally different approach to urban sustainability, one where environmental and social benefits are inseparable rather than competing priorities.
