Averitt published a podcast episode on its Point to Point blog on March 23, 2026, in which the trucking company's Director of Integrated Services Sales discussed two of its freight technology products: Averitt Connect, a multi-carrier transportation management system, and ExactRate, a dynamic pricing tool for less-than-truckload shipments, according to Averitt.

## What Averitt described about its own tools

According to the podcast, ExactRate calculates LTL rates using current capacity and market conditions rather than fixed rate tables, similar to pricing models used in airline or hotel booking. Averitt said the two products are commonly set up together for new shippers, with Averitt Connect handling quoting, shipment visibility and invoicing through APIs that pull rates from ExactRate. Averitt stated that within 24 hours of signup, a shipper can typically begin quoting and shipping on the platform.

Averitt also referenced recent changes to National Motor Freight Traffic Association freight classification rules, saying those changes move toward a more density-based pricing model that is compatible with its dynamic pricing approach, according to the podcast.

## Separate research on AI in supply chains

Separately, a November 2024 systematic literature review published in Computers in Industry examined empirical academic research on AI in supply chain management, organizing findings around data and system requirements, technology deployment, organizational integration and performance outcomes, according to ScienceDirect/Elsevier. The review's authors noted that AI in supply chain management is subject to hype and said implementation details significantly affect outcomes.

None of these three sources describe a shared industry trend; the Averitt podcast addresses its own products, the WEF essay addresses broader supply chain resilience, and the academic review addresses the state of AI-in-SCM research generally.
