> Todd Boehly's Eldridge, which holds stakes in the Dodgers, Lakers and Sparks, led an undisclosed round in youth sports media company Overtime.

## Key points

- The new investment is expected to support Overtime's content, commerce, technology and live sports properties. Eldridge's team stakes and past sports investments suggest it could bring more than capital.
- Watch for announced deals between Overtime's leagues and Eldridge-backed companies such as Fanatics, Vivid Seats or FEVO. That would show whether this is a strategic round or just another name on the investor list.

No dollar figure came with it. Overtime, the youth-focused sports digital media company behind Overtime Elite and Overtime Select in basketball and OT7 in football, has raised a strategic investment round. Leading the round was Eldridge Capital Management, which runs asset management for Todd Boehly's Eldridge.

The investment is expected to fund four things: content, commerce, technology and Overtime's live sports properties. That list tells you more than the missing number would. For a partnership lead weighing a youth basketball or football deal, the new investor's holdings could be the best available clue to where Overtime might push next.

## Overtime's investor list before Eldridge

Overtime's last round was a Series D led by Liberty Media in 2022.

The investors already on board are a mix of institutions and famous names. 359 Capital, Andreessen Horowitz and Blackstone Strategic Partners sit alongside Jeff Bezos, Alexis Ohanian, Drake, Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant. Eldridge is a different kind of investor. It has stakes in the Los Angeles Dodgers, Lakers and Sparks, so it owns pieces of pro teams that sell tickets, sponsorships and merchandise every season.

## Four spending lines, four matching holdings

Partner Jeff Wilbur leads the sports investment strategy at Eldridge Capital Management, which targets companies that own premium intellectual property. Overtime's leagues may be part of the appeal. Here's how Overtime's four spending lines match up with Eldridge's sports and media investments:

- Content: Eldridge has invested in Fulwell Entertainment and Religion of Sports. According to Boehly's CAIS board profile, the parent company, Eldridge Industries, has also invested in A24 and Penske Media.
- Commerce: Eldridge has invested in Fanatics.
- Ticketing and fan technology: Eldridge has backed FEVO and Vivid Seats. Boehly also sits on Vivid Seats' board.
- Live sports: Eldridge holds stakes in the Dodgers, Lakers and Sparks. Boehly personally chairs and owns Chelsea Football Club and is an owner of the Trent Rockets.

The overlap suggests Eldridge knows how to make money from a live sports property beyond the broadcast. Merchandise, ticketing, fan data and original content are areas where its portfolio companies already work. A youth league running events across the country could use advice in every one of them.

There is a limit to this reading. An investment is not a partnership, and nothing announced so far connects Overtime's leagues to Fanatics, Vivid Seats, FEVO or any other Eldridge company. For now the overlap shows what Eldridge could offer. It doesn't show what has been agreed.

## Insurance money behind the sports fund

Eldridge is much bigger than its sports fund. When Boehly spoke at Semafor World Economy in April 2026, his interviewer called Eldridge a roughly $70 billion asset manager with a lot of insurance money, spread across media, sports and real estate.

Boehly spent that session arguing for insurance-funded investing. He said insurers hold long-term liabilities, which lets them plan for the long run in a way banks funded by short-term deposits can't. He said banks did run at about 30 times assets to equity, while Security Benefit, the insurer Boehly chairs, runs at roughly six times assets to equity. In his view, that gives the firm room to invest across many types of debt and equity.

Eldridge's sports and entertainment funds held $200.8M in assets as of May. That is a small pool inside a firm the Semafor interviewer called about a $70 billion asset manager, so the more useful thing Overtime gets may be a backer whose portfolio already covers teams, ticketing and merchandise. Boehly's comments at Semafor were about the insurance business, not the sports fund, so they don't tell us anything about the terms of this deal. They do explain what kind of firm Overtime now has on its investor list.

## Where the fit would show first

The clearest signal would be an announced tie-up between an Overtime league and one of Eldridge's portfolio companies, such as a merchandise deal, a ticketing integration or a content co-production. If one comes, calling this a strategic round was accurate. If none comes, Eldridge is one more name on an already long investor list, and the sports world will be watching which it turns out to be.
