Chao of the Department of Transportation. Initially, only five applications were going to be selected as part of the UAS IPP, but the number increased to 10 after a strong show of interest. Awardees include Choctaw Nation, The City of San Diego, CA, the Kansas Department of Transportation, and the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. The proposals identify ways to balance local and national interests related to UAS integration, and addressing security and privacy risks, among other goals.
