With that as a challenge, another challenge becomes achieving business while maintaining quality, meeting regulations and staying nimble in a marketplace that’s ever-changing.

What can pharmaceutical manufacturers do about this? Focusing on quality, manufacturing efficiencies, and sustainability in terms of R&D is a start, according to Priyanka Chigurupati, executive director at Granules Pharmaceuticals. “In an ideal scenario, if there is a direct link between manufacturers and end customer, the goal of actually getting product at a certain price to the end customer will be attained,” Chigurupati said.
