> Sbarro will deploy NCR Voyix's Aloha Next POS and Voyix Pay across nearly 300 corporate and franchise US locations under a multi-year agreement.

## Key points

- Sbarro, a long-standing NCR Voyix customer, will adopt Aloha Next point-of-sale and Voyix Pay payment acceptance across nearly 300 US locations.
- The rollout covers corporate-owned and franchise locations. NCR Voyix says it will bring centralized data management and greater standardization and visibility, which could make it easier to run stores consistently across the network.
- The deal covers only the US, while Sbarro operates in more than 30 countries. Any extension abroad is the next thing to watch.

Sbarro, the pizza-by-the-slice chain, will install the Aloha Next point-of-sale system at nearly 300 of its U.S. restaurants, both corporate-owned and franchised. The same locations will also get Voyix Pay, which handles payment acceptance from end to end.

NCR Voyix describes Sbarro as a long-standing customer. For whoever runs restaurant technology at a multi-unit brand, the useful question is what a deployment like this actually changes.

## Familiar features, new architecture

Aloha Next runs on the Voyix Commerce Platform. NCR Voyix describes it as the restaurant functions operators already depend on, rebuilt on a microservices architecture. The company says the design is meant to simplify operations, speed up new features and let brands scale over time.

Benny Tadele, executive vice president and president of restaurants at NCR Voyix, framed the upgrade around continuity. In his account, the capabilities Sbarro relies on today carry forward, and what changes is the foundation underneath them, which he described as more resilient and secure. If the features carry over the way the vendor describes, the change at the counter could be smaller than the change in the back office and at headquarters.

## One setup for owned and franchised stores

Both store types are in scope. The release says the deployment will create a single technology environment for in-store and above-store operations, with centralized data management and more standardization, visibility and resiliency across the enterprise.

According to NCR Voyix, the rollout will give Sbarro one technology environment that covers work inside its stores and work at the above-store level. The company says this will centralize data management and bring more standardization, visibility and resiliency to the whole enterprise. In a mixed corporate and franchise system, that view is only as comparable as the systems feeding it. For a head office, a shared setup across corporate and franchise stores could make it easier to compare one store with another. Sbarro CEO David Karam linked the decision to growth. He said the brand needs a platform that keeps pace with the business and makes it easier to run consistently across its restaurants.

Block Field

Malls, casinos, airports, universities, convenience stores and travel plazas are all places where Sbarro sells its pizza, so one operating standard has to fit a wide range of settings. Founded in 1956, it grows through a mix of company-owned and franchised units, so any standard has to work for franchise owners as well as for corporate staff.

## Payments join the register contract

On payments, Sbarro will use the end-to-end payment acceptance capabilities of Voyix Pay. For operators weighing a similar move, getting point of sale and payment acceptance from one provider could mean fewer vendors to manage.

The benefits in the announcement, including visibility, standardization and resiliency, are design goals the companies have set out. They aren't measured results yet. No rollout schedule was given, and Hospitality Technology's coverage repeats the release's terms without adding a timeline. How fast franchised units go live will decide how soon the single above-store view becomes real.

The Sbarro deal expands an existing partnership and is set up as a multi-year Voyix Commerce Platform agreement.

Two signals would show how far this goes. The first is franchise locations running Aloha Next and Voyix Pay alongside corporate stores. The second is any move to take the platform beyond the US, into the more than 30 countries where Sbarro already sells slices.
