Like many companies during this unprecedented crisis, [MakerBot](https://www.makerbot.com/) is leveraging its unique capabilities to support the frontline workers fighting against the [COVID-19](https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html) pandemic.

The company, which provides 3D printers for educators and professionals, is helping leverage that innovative 3D-printing technology to join in that effort, and MakerBot Vice President, Engineering [Dave Veisz](https://www.linkedin.com/in/dave-veisz-18ab1281/) and Vice President, Education [Dottie Stewart](https://www.linkedin.com/in/dottiec/) joined host [Daniel Litwin](https://marketscale.com/industries/contributors/daniel-litwin/) to outline that initiative.

[MakerBot](https://www.makerbot.com/), is headquartered in Brooklyn, New York, putting it at the heart of the [COVID-19](https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html) pandemic in the United States, has seen and participated in facilitating a tremendous effort to utilize all available 3D-printing equipment for the production of critical supplies.

“We’ve seen a really great coming together of the whole New York City area, both in technology and universities and higher education,” Veisz said. “Basically, everyone who has some sort of 3D-printing equipment and aptitude has seen that they have this tool that can aid in this effort, and they want to put it to use.”

These “grassroots alliances” have come together to utilize any available locations to set up temporary supply chains where participants can come together to create and assemble parts for personal protective equipment and other devices, such as face shields, devices for opening up doors without the use of hands, and more.
